I don't spend much time in this forum, but a toy in the latest Automobile magazine forced me to post.

I'll try to describe the Hyper Simulator the best I can. It looks like a mini cockpit with adjustable pedals, seat, and telescoping steering wheel. The pictures show the cockpit painted Ferrari red with #27 decals.

Here's some of their words:

".connects to any PC...effectively replaces your joystick, and is compatible with any PC based software...we were standing on the brakes, dialing in countersteer, and breathing on the throttle...The pedals provide perfect feel to the brake and throttle, and the sequential paddle shift rivals the Ferrari F1 transmission...The Hyper Simulator is far and away the greatest way to experience computer racing games. Kits start at $795."

Enjoy.

That is the basic version but they go right up into the thousands. The GPL 1967 versions are fantastic but very expensive. They also have no force feedback but they are working on that at the moment. Some people say the wheel is a bit naff but everyone says the pedals are the best ever. You can also get them made up into any design and at the GPL Lan party in Holland this year they had them made up looking like the latest F1 cars. They looked cool. I had a great picture of Eddie Irvine and Johnny Herbert racing head to head in GPL in them mocked up as 1967 Lotus. I would love one of these but the one I want is about 2500 thousand. Oh well. Dreams come true and I will have one.

hey paul,
I just saw that mag myself. I started a new thread before I saw yours. I just paid my car off and still can't afford that stuff.

I've known about this device for some time, long before Channel 9 and Eastlake announced the competition. Was going to get one a few months back, but decided against it -- maybe in a few years I'll get one. Has a nice 'rectangular' wheel, but unfortunately no FF.
