Hi!
Two of them in 1974. Follmer, Oliver and
Jarier in Can-Am DN4As at the USGP weekend.
An "embarassing" event according to "Autoweek". And a week later at the Laguna
Seca F5000: Hunt and Jarier in F1 DN3As (compare Hunt`s 59.8s with Andretti`s 58.279s
in the F5000 Lola T332...) vs Follmer and
Oliver in their DN4As.
Jarier`s F1 "won". After some close racing,
the report says. Who watched the match races?

Island,
I saw this "race" at the Glen in 74. (Keir, did we go up together that year or was that the year we BOTH made the BIG mistake of going up with our future ex wives? What could we have been possible thinking!!!!!) It wasn't very interesting. If I remember correctly(not very often) George Folmer and JP Jarier went at it pretty good but Jackie Oliver stayed out of the duel between the other 2. This was the 1st time I had seen a Can Am car so that was kind of exciting but not much of a race. These exhibitions were held as the Can Am as a series was going down the tubes. It's was and is quite a shame that the series couldn't continue. There should be enough room for exotic body work and big bangers in this country or any other country for that matter.

"Hugo, have you ever tried Ouzzo?"
"Madame I have tried everything."
"Well last night I had Ouzzo with some Greeks. Allot of Ouzzo."
"And what was you husband doing when all this Greek and Ouzzo business was going on?"
"The same thing he's always doing the night before a race; trying to sleep."

It was '74 and yes, we both made big mistakes. Mine took a little longer to ferment, but...........

The race was slated as an exhibition, even though it had the billing "The Shadow Showdown". It was very much "show", but I liked the sound!!!

Why don't we all start an 'ex-wives at race meetings' thread? I'm sure many could contribute... except Barry, he only ever took girlfriends.

Don't get me started Ray. It could get ugly.
This should be a happy forum.

"I want to tell you something, not about the others but about myself."
"When I saw something like that I used to go to pieces."
"But I'm older now. When I see something really terrible I put my foot down. HARD! Because I know the other person is lifting his."
"What a terrible way to win."
"Cher mademoiselle, there is no terrible way to win. There is only winning."
