America has lost a great enthusiast. Collector, organizer, patron of the sport and extremely talented driver, Bob Donner passed away on 13 January 2010. Little known outside the US, Bob had his greatest successes in Porsche Spyders in the 1950s and 60s. I have personally seen him beat many drivers who had great International careers. Donner's father was a collector and Bob was active in Duesenberg affairs. After his racing days were over, he got involved in the vintage scene with Ferraris and owned several significant examples. One of his sons was a successful competitor who met death in practice for a hillclimb. As a resident of Colorado Springs Colorado, Bob was had a lifetime involvement in the Pikes Peak Hillclimb including three sports car class wins there. One of the really go guys. He will be missed.
