I dont think they do. But then again they don't use a standing start so its much less of an issue, then in F1.

they don't have it.

im just wondering how they control it, so no teams cheat. maybe the fia could take a look at that.

maybe the fact that these good ol' boys are stuck in a '70s timewarp could explain it.

The technology is fairly primitive I believe, so maybe they still use plug and points, and weber carburettors :)

Regardless of the fact they are 'primitive' they do have more horsepower than Formula 1

but then they have turbo's the size of a monkeys head :) Turbo F1 engines were animals compared to these kittens (and think if they had todays tech, and turbo's - oh MAMMA  )

Actually the technology is not as primitive as you think they do have technology that wasn´t available 3 years ago. Onboard computers, carbon brakes, space age materials, etc.... I don´t know where you guys get that the technological difference is so great.

Of course the two series are different, one uses turbo, the other doesn´t, Cart doesn´t allow raised noses, this is a rule of thumb in F1. Other differences are quite radical; for example, in CART they use methanol as their fuel, not gasoline. Although you can´t see the flame produced by methanol it has the advantage that it can be put out with water unlike gasoline. Although this is hard

The thing is they want to keep things simple, they don´t want teams to start using TC ilegally. In a race this year, I think it was Houston, Ganassi happened to have his pits beside Team Penske. He´d been watching the Penske cars getting out of the pits all weekend and after close observation he decided they were using traction control. He went crazy and immediately went to CART officials and began making accusations about Team Penske using TC. Penske´s guys of course said that it wasn´t true and CART officials tried to calm Gannassi down, but i think this is where the incident ended.

Well they "don't" just like F1 hasn't for the last 6 years. Basically, everyone claimed that Penske must have had it this year, but I am not sure if I buy that.

I know for a fact that around early 1997, some of the Ford Cosworth teams had it but CART got ahold of it and banned it offically.

Another thing CART won't have is sponsorship. K-Mart is pulling out and Texaco is suing Newman-Hass because they let Michael Andretti go. Watch FedEx pull the plug soon also. The end is coming, folks, and it won't be pretty.

Sadly enough, I think I would have to agree with you on that. Mercedes, K Mart, Texaco, Della Penna, PPI.....

Its painful.

The most serious accusation of it was 1993 in mid season when Tracy and Fittipaldi started winning for Penske, mostly on road courses. Recall that Mansell's only road course win in CART was the 93 season opener in Australia. At the Cleveland race, CART thoroughly went over both Penskes looking for TC. After passing the investigation, Tracy went on to win the race and the cars continued to be successful, though Mansell still got the title. The next year, when Unser joined the team, proved to be as close to a 1988 McLaren year as you'll see in CART.
