.... and Malcolm Gartlan transporter to right.
..... who was running Brian Muir's BMW?

Muir previously drove the Wiggins Teape Camaro.

Correct on both counts

Thanks for awesome photos; with the big block power they needed a lot of rear grip, looks like F1 rear wheels and tires at the rear.Correct on both counts

Though a mild Boss 429 would have abundant cheap HP from a near std motor but the weight would always beat it.

Moffat tried a 351 in his '69 TransAm and it ruined the fine handling that the car was set up with, with the Boss 302.That Mustang would be a beast to drive. The big blocks have plenty of power and WEIGHT. Would be a very front heavy pig. Would be better with a Boss 302, not nearly as powerful but a lot more balanced.

Hence my comments about the 429 which is a bigger lump than the 351CMoffat tried a 351 in his '69 TransAm and it ruined the fine handling that the car was set up with, with the Boss 302.

Realistically big blocks in those cars were never great for circuit racing as the torque is so hard to 'hook up' A higher revving lighter small block is usually better.Gardner's SCA Camaro had an all aluminum 427 lump I believe, about the weight of iron SBC which helped the balance of that car.
I think Gardners SCA Chev was small block though for a short period it used the Jane alloyZL1 427. Jane here in Oz went just as quick with a 350 as he had with the 427.
The later 70 1/2 on cars were never homolgated with the 427 only the 69 ZL1
