Note boss of SCA Freight, Adrian Chambers, in centre of photo, and Malcolm Gartlan transporter to right.

Thanks for awesome photos; with the big block power they needed a lot of rear grip, looks like F1 rear wheels and tires at the rear. :)

That Mustang would be a beast to drive. The big blocks have plenty of power and WEIGHT. Would be a very front heavy pig. Would be better with a Boss 302, not nearly as powerful but a lot more balanced.
Though a mild Boss 429 would have abundant cheap HP from a near std motor but the weight would always beat it.

Moffat tried a 351 in his '69 TransAm and it ruined the fine handling that the car was set up with, with the Boss 302.

Hence my comments about the 429 which is a bigger lump than the 351C

Gardner's SCA Camaro had an all aluminum 427 lump I believe, about the weight of iron SBC which helped the balance of that car.

Realistically big blocks in those cars were never great for circuit racing as the torque is so hard to 'hook up' A higher revving lighter small block is usually better.
I think Gardners SCA Chev was small block though for a short period it used the Jane alloyZL1 427. Jane here in Oz went just as quick with a 350 as he had with the 427.
The later 70 1/2 on cars were never homolgated with the 427 only the 69 ZL1

I'm surprised that no one has come up with a photo of Dennis' car in its Castrol colours for the 1971 season. I remember seeing at the race of Champions in the usual tourquoise colour but very soon after it appeared in white with Castrol logos etc . I know the sponsorship only lasted for one season as the car was painted in tourquoise again for 1972 and 1973 (as per the photos by Alan and Twinny).
