I am building this 1:8 model of the Ferrari 126C2, a very high detailed model of this beautiful classic F1 car. The model is made out of materials like aluminium, carbon fiber, metal, brass and so on.
On the decal sheet there are "stickers" which are put randomly on different parts of the engine. On reference pictures you see them on different parts, different places, sometimes multiple etc.
Can anybody shed some light on the purpose of these stickers?
Thanks
Ton

as the stickers are placed at thermosensitive areas (i.e. Intercooler plenumchamber etc.) I guess these are 'Thermosensitive' stickers. They are used also at brake-calipers.
After a run they change colour and you can translate the numbers on the scale to temperatures achieved.

The decals you mention are indeed temperature indicators. In the 70's thermopaint was used to check the temperature the brake discs reached. Still on the market today, bot reversible as irreversible paints.
Those stickers contained several different paints, each discolouring at a certain temperature.

@MCS these pictures are "borrowed" I am still in the process of building
Arjan is right: I bought this kit from Berry Manzoni of Promocom Toy Group from Brescia Italy and this $4500 kit is incomplete. From the 50+ building stages over 30% of the bags were incomplete or complete bags were missing. A lot of these parts are big, vital pieces: gearbox, suspension, wing strut etc.
The response of Berry Manzoni was: “give me a couple of days to check this”. After some previous experiences of his trustworthiness I was not surprised that days became weeks and weeks became months.
In a year I wrote Berry Manzoni zillions of emails with almost no response. When he responded it were all empty promises (from “in …weeks you get them” to “ I have already send you the parts” etc.) I did not get one firm date about delivery of the missing parts …the only thing he was firm about was the price and the data of his bank account.
To make a long story short: after a year I did not expect anything from Berry Manzoni and I decided to make the parts (partly with help of others) myself so I was able to make this brilliant model....because that is what it is! They claim it is made with the help of Mauro Forghieri and the detaillling is exceptionally well ..well the existence of these decals prove this
here are some pictures of the parts I made myself
red is missing
ready
missing
ready
Some bits and pieces of self made parts
Some very friendly people from the modelling community help me with making the exhaust pipes, the front suspension en the rear hubs.
After all everything will come right but what should have been a builders heaven became a builders nightmare

Ton
