I jus't don't get why they are using 2009 models for the cars
This is supposed to be a game about the 2010 season right?
Because the 2010 cars were only seen for the first time last month. This means there wasn't enough time to make the 2010 versions for previews.

And it will contain the 2010 cars when it comes out. Till then they couldn't read minds.

While the 2010 cars haven't been modelled yet, this is Codies mock-up of the sort of shapes we'll be seeing
So basically this game will feature the '09 season as well as this season if they've modelled all the '09 cars. Not bad. Brawn GP will be immortalised even further. So will Ferrari's and McLaren's dogs

Haven't hear anything like that or don't think it will happen, but would be good thou.

The '09 cars are only to showcase the graphics. The '10 cars are too new to have coded yet. Just hope they concentrate on gameplay and dont make it a shinny turd... Looks good so far!
They should put them both in the game. Would be nice to drive the Brawn. I hope this game will be lauched soon!

Don't think they will have both years. These 2009 models in that magazine aren't even build I think. Just examples.
So you mean photoshopped???

Well to be honest, I've no clue. Just sounds like a lot of work to build these gamemodels if you're not gonna use them.So you mean photoshopped???

Yeah. I also don't understand. But I think if they will have 2010 cars it will take a lot of months before this game will be released. When I first saw the screens yesterday, I thought they would only do a 2009 lineup and therefore release the game within 2 months or so. Lets hope they will give us the info soon!

What I can remember from the EA Sports series, is that they weren't released early in the season either. They need a couple of races anyway to even determine the speed and reliability of the cars. It's not like FIFA or PES where they can release the 2010 game halfway 2009.Yeah. I also don't understand. But I think if they will have 2010 cars it will take a lot of months before this game will be released. This is gonna be the first official F1 sim for the PC in 7 years. I don't have a console, so it's at least interesting.

They would definately have made the 2009 models, not photoshop, the models wouldn't take too much too change so they can afford to make 2009 ones even if they don't use them because they can be changed to 2010 easily. Plus they need to have models to test the game, etc, they wouldnt wait for the 2010 cars to be released to start work would they..

I can't wait!!
I'll have to upgrade my PC before September.........

They don't need very precise models to test anything, they could even use cardboard boxes. Watching these screens though, the models look quite detailed. So either they did indeed create them, which would mean it isn't that much work anyway, or it's just fake. I don't really care that much either way. They would definately have made the 2009 models, not photoshop, the models wouldn't take too much too change so they can afford to make 2009 ones even if they don't use them because they can be changed to 2010 easily. Hardly. Looks about as good as most games on the market these days. The only part of these pictures that looks deceptive would be the really extreme lighting. Examine the Force India and the surrounding track, you can clearly see jaggies which aren't present in FMV/CGI/whatever they are using these days for movies. It does look rather too impressive to be in game graphics, unless they are PC shots that require a super computer for that level of detail of course.
#31
Posted 11 March 2010 - 12:30
obviously they are aiming a higher audience than the sim players, but I hope they manage to make a game that using assistances is easy to play and without them feels realistic and challenging.
ahh, they need to use more anti aliasing or higher res!

OK super computer to CGI level was perhaps a little exaggeration but I've not come across that level of graphics on any game for the xbox, but if I'm wrong and that is the in game graphics then I'd be concerned over frame rates since there is a major slow down in frame rates on F1 2009 on the Wii at Monaco and Abu Dhabi even without other cars on screen, if codemasters let that go then will they make that sacrifice again on more powerful platforms for the sake of breathtaking graphics?Hardly. I can safely say that Gran Turismo 5 looks better than F1 2010 does at the moment. Have you ever seen the F2007 in that game? It's absolutely beautiful.OK super computer to CGI level was perhaps a little exaggeration but I've not come across that level of graphics on any game for the xbox, but if I'm wrong and that is the in game graphics then I'd be concerned over frame rates since there is a major slow down in frame rates on F1 2009 on the Wii at Monaco and Abu Dhabi even without other cars on screen, if codemasters let that go then will they make that sacrifice again on more powerful platforms for the sake of breathtaking graphics?
Those stills posted above look exactly like the ingame shots from the magazine scans, minus the ridiculous lighting effects. Back on GT5, that game looks far, far better and suffers from zero slowdown. The PS3 and 360 are very powerful consoles. It's understandable that the Wii would have slowdown because it's very underpowered in comparison to its competition, but these two juggernauts (the PS3 and 360) really shouldn't have any problems at all unless there's an excessive amount of animations and effects off track, and that's incredibly unlikely to happen.
Here are some ingame screenshots from current gen racers to compare the F1 2010 pics to.

hmm, OK, I think your right particularly after seeing those F1 championship pics. So, believe me, those F1 2010 pics are definitely gameplay.;)
But still my only reservation is weather the game holds it's frame rate, like I said it doesn't in F1 2009 and although the Wii is very under powered in comparison the fact remains that codemasters felt that jittery frame rate even without the view of other cars was acceptable and I just hope they don't do the same with F1 2010 since two tracks have all but been ruined in the 2009 game.
btw Thanks for the pics.

According to Codemasters all screenshots (from the ones in OXM to the ones from the press release) are indeed ingame and that the game holds a framerate of 30 fps. So far so good.

I hope the AI is believable, I tried playing rFactor but it was hopeless. If they can get it to Geoff Crammond level I might buy a PC and wheel and give it a go, the old GP series was a great insight into driving the circuits.
the AI in grid is amazing, hopefully they'll keep that but make the physics much much better than grid. also the atmosphere and general presentation of grid is immense.

If the cars can be made that fast, they should make some classic F1 cars from the past too which players need to unlock first.

That's it folks. The Game sounds really impressive, out Sep 2010 on PC XBOX and PS3. More than just racing with an expansive career mode
less than 20 seconds ago via TweetDeck
There's qualifying strategy too - ie when to go out if it's raining. Beating your team mate. Get the team around you.
5 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Career mode features season upgrades and car developments of your car and your rivals..You can hang out in the garage too. Weird/brilliant.
7 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Features teammate rivalry too. This career mode is insane - a lot more than just racing.
9 minutes ago via TweetDeck
@lukehmuse no mention on commentary yet. They have a press conference feature in career mode too.
12 minutes ago via TweetDeck in reply to lukehmuse
The career mode is advanced. As a driver you have commitments for media, fans, sponsors etc - blimey. Not just racing cars!
13 minutes ago via TweetDeck
You can seek out puddles to cool your tyres if they are over heating on a wet/dry track!
16 minutes ago via TweetDeck
As well a weather, the track changes too. Goes from green to rubbered in and marbles. Weather is superbly dynamic and true to life
16 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Pit stops are super realistic with mechanics walking around as in real life. Superb!
17 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Engine management, wing management and complete control in pit stops - limiter and managing revs etc too
18 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Tyres can blister, marbles will appear off line, punctures can happen and lots of concentration on race strategy.
19 minutes ago via TweetDeck
The AI (artificial intelligence) is to have 'racing instinct' and charcter
22 minutes ago via TweetDeck
New f1 game to have the cleverest weather simulation ever seen. Extremely clever AI. Anthony Davidson is their test driver/gamer.
24 minutes ago via TweetDeck
Some of these sound stunning - seems like Codemasters is putting a LOT of effort into this.

Hopefully its in the 2011 version though. No safety car though.
To be honest, I'd prefer a no SC rather than an SC full of bugs. I remember on one F1 game (can't remember which), during a yellow flag zone, all the cars would virtually grind to a halt and you would end up smashing into all of them.
