Early this morning we had this...


...yet by the time practice began cars were running on intermediates, in the wake of a brief deluge. The drivers worst affected were those in the snappily titled Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East (and no, I didn't pop out to take pictures).






I did do some GP2 stuff, though. From the top, Oliver Turvey on pole position, Pastor Maldonado on the kerbs and Marcus Ericsson on a Rally GB recce.


Jenson Button has been reading the GP2 driving manual.


Jaime Alguersuari looks forward to another weekend tussling for about 12th place.

Would I be the only person here who thinks these two phots perfectly illustrate what is wrong with F1 as a racing spectacle these days.

Maybe he's referring to the complex aerodynamic devices on each end of the car(s)?

Exactly, contrast a front on view of a 'ground effects' Lotus 79 with the mess that the McLaren has hanging off the nose. Then there's that ridiculous rear wing!
