There's a BIG concern about rain predicted for the weekend, which could effectively kill the race, as floods are common in that part of the city.

Kanaan, 3rd in the practice session, was FURIOUS with the track engineer because it is very bumpy and slippery, which could be a big problem if it indeed rains tomorrow.

It's funny to see the biggest channel in Brazil don't even mention that a race is going on in SP this weekend.




Seriously, I hope the work they are doing at the track solve the problem, as rain is predicted for race time.

They mentioned (to save face) that a similar job had to be done at Indianapolis a few years ago.

I think that Apex Brazil being a sponsor of the series and with everyone using fuels made in Brazil is quite a big factor in this decision to race there. And I understand that the prize money is big enough for the teams to make a profit from this race. Having so many Brazilians racing in the series also helps. I just don't understand why it had to be the FIRST race of the season? They left everything so late and it's a miracle that the track is as ready as it is, but still, it would have been better to move this race to a later date from the get-go.

This race was never supposed to be there, that initial idea was for Rio, then Salvador...
Safety must be the concern now, I'm worried about.

Take a look to what Pizzona has written in his twitter:

[In] 2004 or 2005, Montoya and I came to do a presentation of Formula 1 here in the sambódromo. Within minutes, we busted 2 engines ..

...Simply because the car lose traction so much. Because of this, the car didn't earn [enough] acceleration and thus, by this, it wasn't able to cool the engine.

It is just embarrassing... A quick practice is going on, they grooved the straight and it's dustier than the original Paris-Dakar route.
