Without the new teams scrapping it at the back the race would have been utterly dull, instead of just dull.

And who knows what will happen in future. Last Saturday the team that was once Stewart Grand Prix outqualified the mighty Ferrari and last season said team was fighting another 'new' team for the championships.

I am personally just as interested in how the new teams progress as I am in the top teams and I would far prefer a diverse mix of teams that a handful with three cars each.

It's a pity the FOTA beat the FIA down in the budget cap AFTER these teams decided to join. At the time, they thought they would be able to compete on an even footing...

Forti Corse anyone... ?

I for one am quite happy to admit that now these teams are on the grid I have changed my tune about them. They have passed the first test - starting their first ever GP. Other than Lotus they now have to pass the second test - finishing a Grand Prix, followed by - scoring points, followed by getting on the podium etc. USF1 on the other hand are a disgrace because they didn't get to first base and they can only look at themselves.

No, I certainly don't think these teams were an embarassment. They were a welcome relief from one of the most boring GPs in years (at least Indy 05 the fans were out of their seats!) and gave us an indicator of how high is the bar in F1. They brought some young hopefuls into the sport and we can now follow their progress with interest. I hope the 13th team is chosen in a more intelligent and even handed manner and gets the opportunity for a lot more testing than HRT did.

i want Epsilon Euskadi to make it to F1 next year

there's rumours in Spain than if they dont get in, they could associate with HRT and combine into a single team

reading about Epsilon i found they are forming racing engineers, commercializing their research facilities like the new wind tunnel(designed and made themselves to high standards), have very strong production facilities, etc. all as a background to support their racing teams. they have a great future ahead.

F1 has embarassed itself far more than HRT could ever do.

Ferrari and their fans would rather insult than compete

Surely its impossible to question the 'intent' of the only team thats actually been around since the very beginning. If their sole intent was to do anything other than compete, they'd have left a long time ago.

You sound like you've simply got a chip on your shoulder for Ferrari and thought you found a great opportunity to express it in words. :p Ferrari are in no way an embarrassment to F1. Quite the opposite, I'd say. They are a great, historic team thats never given up no matter how much they struggled.

Anyways, I was watching Friday practice with the Five Live team and they were talking about how the small teams, far from being an embarrassment, actually serve a great purpose in showing how hard F1 actually is and how much of an acheivement it is for all the 'competitive' teams to be doing what they're doing. Basically, they give an appreciation for what the sport actually entails, which is something we might have taken for granted the past couple years where even the 'backmarkers' are less than 2 seconds off-the-pace.

Makes sense. Hispania-Euskadi and someone like ART on the grid would have more credibility than Hispania and Epsilon or Hispania and ART. I'm told Adrian Campos and Joan Villadelprat don't get along, but with Cabarante and Kolles calling the shots, things could be different.
