Hi can anyone tell me more about the Capri FordSports Day of May 28th 1972. ? 2 Capri Races were held that day , one for "Drivers" and one later in the day for "Entrants" . 16 Black 3000E Capris with Registration No.s Prefixed RWC 385K to RWC 400K took part and were driven by Graham Hill, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fitipaldi , Jerry Birrel , Jill Fortescue-Thomas , Frank Gardner, Tom Belso ( A Danish Formula 2 Driver ) Brian Muir, Mike Beutler , Howden Ganley , Denis Hulme, David Mathews, David Brodie, Mike Crabtree, Vince Woodman and Ray Allen.
Grid positions were taken Tombola Style out of a Drum set up on the Grid by Master of Ceremonies Nick Britain .
"Entrants" were Hans Beumhardt ( Editor of Custom Car Magazine) Rodney Bloor, Francois Cevert, Colin Chapman, Tony Dron, Bernard Ecclestone, Malcolm Gartlan, Robin Herd, Ray Hutton, Phill Kerr, Rod Mansfield, Bill Stone ( An Australian Journalist ? ) Arthur Pateman, Simon Taylor, Jeremy Walton ( Journalist and Capri Author) and John Webb .
The race was won by Dave Mathews and apparently the capris all of which had a dent or 2 were Auctioned off after the last Race . I would be very pleased to hear from anyone with any memories of the races , Photos, Also any of the Entrants and Drivers and also any info on what became of the 16 Capris .
