Bild said the ‘secret pact’ between McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes involves the ‘exchange of data’ about the technical superiority of the latest car designed by Adrian Newey.

F1-teams secret pact - against Red Bull

Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes working to beat Red Bull. Red Bull is superior. Way too superior. Therefore, cooperation of the other top teams - in a secret pact. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber is the year's fastest F1-pair and the other teams can only be pleased that Red Bull's cars were not as reliable as the team desired. Red Bull has had the pole position in every race - but only taken two victories. But this has been the other top teams to respond and under German Image has therefore formed a secret pact. With the task of spying on Red Bull to solve their mystery. Top teams merge Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren exchange data with each other to try to find the key to Red Bull's success. Such a thing has never happened.

- Red Bull has gone his own way. Our people look at it closely right now, "said Ross Brawn, Mercedes, told the newspaper. A couple of things are the other teams have found out, the rear is extremely narrow and deep, and the exhaust around the car to make better aerodynamics. But Red Bull to do to protect their secrets and startgridden were a number of mechanics in the rear of the car to prevent competitors and photographers from getting a look.

What a secret :drunk:

Even if one of the teams figured it out, why would they tell the others?

I don't mind that for a split second and it reinforces to me why there should be customer chassis. Shared development, shared costs, high level playing field.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. On a related note (how to beat Red Bull without simply designing faster car also known as -Let's change rules to handicap them) :
KERS edges closer to Formula 1 return
Hopefully they will shoot themselves in the foot again.

I still laugh at McLaren and their:
- "We already figured out ride height trick and we're building our own solution"
- "Oh no we didn't, it's illegal :(", followed by 1 s difference in qualifying.

It's just an excuse because SOMEbody went to the photocopy shop with a 700 page dossier that SOMEbody gave him, and no-one wants to go through the same procedure again...

Well, atleast McLaren is trying to catch up with RBR and is doing a wonder job doing so, splitting both RBR during the race.

And you were supporting? ... ... ...

I think they just shared their data on RBR, they will draw conclusions on their own.

Doesn't help STR 09 speed and they had exactly the same car. :|

Mark Webber usually doesn't talk **** when it comes to his chances, so I guess given the reasons he stated it may be indeed a close race, though I wouldn't be surprised if RedBull dominate qualifying again. It will be interesting to see how their pace either increases or comes to the field when the track rubbers right in, Monaco is unique in this regard its characteristics change rather dramatically in comparison to other tracks in a short period of time. It might proffer some clue as to where in the performance envelope they are getting it right with the soft tire.
