Sauber is abismal this year...

And some people have the nerve to say they should be looking to get DLR replaced

Try to get your car to last more than 15 or 20 laps and then judge the drivers...

Wasn't there talk of Koba going to Renault in the silly season? It would do him a world of good to replace the abysmal Petrov and bail from the SS Sauber and its steam engines.

Petrov's hardly abysmal, he's had several mechanical failures but he's impressive enough when he has a car to drive.

Which is rarely once he's done sticking it in the fence.

If by impressive you mean jogging around 1 second per lap slower than Kubica and occasionally putting it in the wall, then yes.

I would say HRT are doing a better job with what they have than maybe Virgin and Sauber, but when they're so far off-the-pace, its not unjustifiable to say they're the worst team at the moment.

It depends on what criteria you choose to rate the teams.

Well he's obviously not the same level as Kubica but, in my opinion, he's not totally useless.

Kubica is doing an Alonso and the rest are doing what the rest were like with Alonso. Same old Renault story then!

:drunk: First driver out driving the car. Check. Second driver looking slow in comparison and very crash prone. Check.

Name a driver currently in F1 who is doing worse, considering the equipment each driver has.

I think Petrov's weight is playing against him, he is not that bad. I think Renault is a fast car, but hard to drive, and extra weight will give him less ballast to get a better balance.. So i'd say he is 0.4s or 0,5s slower than one of the best of the crop (kubica), by no means a weak feat...

Hulkenburg? I agree with what berto said, give him time at least.

Chandocks pace was amazing in the race (all things considered), faster than Senna and just tenths off Trulli!

I feel really sorry for Sauber. And this car isn't so slow. It just can't get to the ****ing finish line...

So much for being the pre season sexy dark horses

Chuck those wheel rims
Set the name right
Get the Sauber livery back

It doesn't matter at all, there is no KERS and minimal weight of the car including driver was raised for this season to 620kg.

Of course it matters. The team itself told two races ago he had to loose some weight to qualify as well as Kubica. Even if the weight limit was raised it still means Kubica can use more ballast than him to set up the car! And if that car is as hard as it looks to take to the limit it would be natural for a rookie to have issues extracting max performance in a race distance.

The car ie extreemly easy to drive according to Kubica. Petrov is only 10 pounds heavier than Kubica (4.5kg), that is not a huge amount. I can bet that even if he loose this 10 punds, he won't be much better. Just look at Webber and Vettel, Mark is a lot heavier than Seb and it's not a problem for Webber to match his teammate.

Well, as long as he brings sponsorship money he ain't going anywhere. He have managed some points at least, and it's not like there's a ton of drivers who available who would be likely to do better. And a clear number one driver isn't necessarily a bad thing.

HRT are a disgrace to Motor Racing, however I have to agree with the above that looking at things relatively then Sauber are an even bigger joke. The pathetic testing games they played in this day and age mean that Joke is the only appropriate term.

The problem HRT have is that their hands are tied as their chassis was designed and built by a contractor, so they don't have full control over their own destiny in that respect. Virgin are in a similar situation but at least they are working closely together, unlike HRT and Dallara who's relationship has disintegrated.

Lotus's efforts are entirely in-house, and that is shown by how much faster they've got up to speed and the new updates their car is getting.

I think HRT, if they are around next season, will benefit from developing their own chassis next season. It can't be any worse than this year's (touch wood) and they'll be able to develop it and understand it better than by using a third party. They're just going to have to grin and bear 2010, but I think they have potential if they can get the sponsorship and keep getting this right people on board (Kolles and Willis is a positive start).
