I just finished looking at http://www.lolaheritage.co.uk/ to see if any T333CS chassis exist. The Chassis Register page fails to even mention the type, which is not promising.

I found other sources referencing 7 chassis that raced in period (from 1979) and seem to have been built as a T333CS (rather than another chassis type and modified to T333CS specs). So, I thought to take the easy way out and consult the TNF experts rather than do Google searches ad infinitium.

Has any example of the type surfaced in recent times?

This should help....

http://www.oldracingcars.com/canam/

I would expect that Allen Brown from that site will eventually see your post and chime in.

Thank you, Marc. It looks like the interest (so far) in my question is on a par with the information available on the internet about surviving T333CS'. :well:

I suspect some TNF'er has something to share if this thread does not disappear before he sees it.

Ickx is quoted in the current Motor Sport as saying lots of nice things about the driveability of the chassis. Its success in period is all the more reason to think a few might exist.

Try contacting Allen Brown directly. His email address can be found on his site,

http://www.oldracingcars.com

And don't be surprised that when you're least expecting it, someone will pop out of the woodwork here with a suggestion or two.

Just for grins I googled it. Not much there.

I make no claims to being very knowledgeable about Can Am chassis so I can't guarantee it, but there may be a 333CS or two in my Can Am set on flickr.

Also have a look on http://wsrp.ic.cz/ch...lola_canam.html which features 12 purpose built T333 CanAm chassis, originally only delivered to Van der Straaten and Carl Haas. At least two chassis (T333-HU1 and T33-HU8) were converted into Frissbees.

Haas/Hall cars would be T333CS (Chaparral Spec) cars. One of the differences was the steering rack location was raised up to correct bump steer. I think the front wings were changed, possibly wider. I remember preparing a brand new T333CS. Follmer shook it down at Laguna. He wasn't interested in any plans to break in a new ring and pinion etc. He broke the Can Am track record with it which was already his in the Prophet instead.

You will find at least two T333cs in Christchurch, NZL undergoing restoration.

Both ex Warwick Brown VDS cars.

Thanks NZALPA. I was hoping to hear something like that. Perhaps the owner(s) intend to put the cars on the track following restoration. I am planning to be in NZ for the two Tasman Revival races in 2011 and, if fate so has it, perhaps one of them will make an appearance.

Hello!

Only just spotted this thread.

I'd love to know the history of HU10!

I do have a page on the T333s but I have so few current owners that I've never published it. The other problem has been figuring out exactly how the cars were used in period. VDS had HU1 and HU2 but crashed HU1 repeatedly; Haas Racing had HU3, HU6 and HU7 in 1977, wrecked one and sold the other two, one of which was later destroyed; Newman Racing had HU4 and HU5 and rebuilt both as Spyders; John Morton had HU8 and turned it into a Frissbee; Hogan Racing had HU9 until it was burnt to the ground; HU10 was probably a Haas Racing car but I've never been certain; HU11 was Bobby Brown's car; HU12 was Haas Racing's 1979 car.

As to present owners - I know Victor Felice had an ex-Morton car a few years ago and Bud Bennett had HU12 some time earlier but that's all I know. I suspect two T333s were restored as T332s. HU1, HU2, HU7, HU8, HU10, HU11 and HU12 should have survived somewhere.
