I thought as the host of Grand Prix Travelling forum I would look back over the years and dig out information that forum members have posted about each GP and make a summary of all the information I can find.

So for my first attempt.

GPT Canadian Grand Prix Summary

General Admission seems to be an unpopular choice going by posts in this thread.

Information on ticket sales can be found in the following thread.

Some information about events in and around the circuit.

I'm not local but I thought you deserved a response! Thanks for starting this thread.

FYI: Bridgestone "Open House" @ Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Thursday, June 5th. Hours are from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm, however they stop admittance at 12:30 p.m. For those of us unable to stop by a local Canadian dealership, Bridgestone will have some tickets available at a will call set up outside of the Jean-Drapeau Metro. Email contact for these ticket requests: bfopenhouse@bfusa.com

If you have any more useful information or links to worthwhile posts you think should be added, please feel free to chip in and I'll add it to the summary.

Thanks to cheesy poofs for the following links for 2011.

These are the views of what you can expect from the general admission viewing areas in Montreal. If you're going to Montreal, do not do general admission. If you have a long lens, you can get some decent photos in the hairpin area during practice and warmup - but you'll be standing. Areas near grandstand 33 and the hairpin are the only two practical (but very sad) general admission viewing areas.
