We all bemoan the passing of special saloons, but are this lot so far removed from Wendy Wools' finest? From the top, Craig Rainer's Mk2 Escort leads Paul Nevill's newer alternative; Demetris Neophytou (or Jimmy, as he's known to his mates); Jason Davies (Escort RS); Joss Ronchetti (Sunbeam Lotus).
David Brise - son of Tim, nephew to Tony - leads Alan Fincham. No, a Royale RP21 ought not to be quicker than a Van Diemen RF80.
Alan Weyman does a passable impression of 1973.
Alan Weyman does a passable impression of the Amoco Cadiz....
...leaving Dave Facer and Chris Hart to negotiate the European cement dust mountain that ensues.
Things you don't see in a one-make series... Chris Nutt leads Luc Wilson.
I could cheerfully have watched Phil Manser (blue) and Jim Burrows (red) all day, with or without a Morris Minor in their way.
Is it my imagination, or is that a Lotus Morris Minor? Ken Selfe leads Anthony Warnes and Stuart Radford.
The Lotus provenance is a little clearer here: Roger Stanford and Brian Stevens at the top, Steven Sprigg below.
"Wish I had a grey Cortina, whiplash aerial, racing trim..." Probably one of Tom Robinson's finest lyrics, that. Tony Crates fends off Ian Fowler.
The real Ray Mallock.
Mark Fowler. Not the real Vince Woodman.
There was some newer stuff around, too, but we won't go there...

There was one of those in the Classic Thunder event, at the wheel of an XR2. Pictures not pictured, I'm afraid.John Edwards Parton was racing I hear, one-time fast competitor in the MN rally series...

A few bits and bobs from Brands Hatch today...

Also spotted in close proximity to Kirby Mallory a few weeks ago

I remember watching Jim race Minis in the early seventies as well in the BSCC.

Any pictures of the Pink Royale RP26 FF1600 Battling with David Brise, the Pink Gyphon C73 in the clubmans race or The Number 56 Van Diemen RF82 in the FF2000 race. I prepare all of them and was driving the RP26. Davis Brise and I had a blinding race, both enjoyed it and still shaking hands at the end.
thanks
