I've got tickets for all three days of the British GP and will be staying in the Silverstone campsite.
I'm planning on taking my own food and drink so can anyone give me a rough guide to how much money you need to get by? I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible so any money-saving tips would be very much appreciated!

I camp in the back of the car in the main car park with a mate. We take all our own food and drink and don't normally spend a penny on site. We BBQ at the back of the car and cook extra stuff to put in rolls for the next day. We both take a small ruck sack so we can carry a lot of beer and any room left is taken by the rolls, crisps biscuits etc.

We tend to do it on the cheap and take in what we need too. Otherwise it's £10 for a programme, £30 if your old cap is looking a bit shabby, £3 if you fancy a bacon sandwich in the morning or £2 if you want a drink that is still cold at the end of a long, sunny afternoon... they all add up.

I was there last weekend and also took my own food and drink - there's a small campsite shop that has newspapers and basic provisions...I asked there on the Thursday for a replacement camping gaz cartridge and they had a replacement ready for me the next morning at only 26p more than the normal Milletts price ( ie £2.25), which I thought was very good service.
Apart from the shop, and buying the programme ...oh! and some chips (£2.50) I didn't spend anything else.

Yep self catering is the only way, unless you have pots of money.
We're caravaning from Thursday til' Monday on the Silverstone campsite,
