So heres the deal..

Anyone who buys GT5 when it's finally launched and wishes to take part.. we'll pick a particular car, probably one of the low level ones to make it "reasonably priced" and we'll set laps and keep a leaderboard going of the best times.

Just a bit of good fun. Anyone up for it?

Some videos of the track: http://www.gtplanet....ameplay-videos/

I'm in. Hopefully gt5 will include THE "reasonably priced car", then we can require its use. If not, we can always pick one.

Does anyone know if Viktor is still around on this forum? He made a simple yet very handy internet application to run the GT 4 Atlas F1 championship!

(I have seen Kilted Wanderer not so long ago, better not tell him of this competition if you 'd like to stand a reasonable chance to win!)

All we know is it's me. So count me in (to finish last)

Oh-oh, GT Academy guy!!!

I couldn't get within a second of those times!

Am actually playing through GT4 again in an attempt to remain patient about the impending release but I would be happy to have a bit of a go at a Prologue event.

I'm actually still playing GT4 when I have the time, got about 10% still to go :)

Going to buy a PS3 when GT5 is finally released, unless I decide to buy iRacing in the mean time

Am currently getting gold on all the licenses, then will do the missions then the main game. Hopefully that will do me till F1 is released, then that will bide the time until GT5. Obviously life in general will get a bit of a look in too. A bit...

We don't know how cars and tracks are unlocked yet, so it would be safer to focus reasonable priced cars at first. When game is released everybody doesn't have 25 hours in day to play game so patience with cars we choose.

Yeah, good point. I'm sure Arcade mode will return however, so was sort of thinking along the lines of that (or people who've blasted their way through the game quickly).

The final car list is out :-

http://www.gran-turi...carlist_en.html

No Suzuki Liana on the list.

But there are several possibles for a reasonably priced car :-

138 - Citroën C3 1.6 '02
149-164 Various Daihatsu's
195 - Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge SS '08
202 - Fiat Panda Super i.e. '90
220 - Ford Ka '01
256-261 Various Honda Civics
287 - Honda JAZZ 1.4 DSi SE Sport '01
463 - Mazda Mazda2 '03
656 - Nissan Be-1 '87
664 - Nissan CUBE X '98
694 - Nissan MICRA '03
777 - Opel Corsa Comfort 1.4 '01
895 - Suzuki CERVO SR '07
904 - Suzuki WAGON R RR '98
977 - Toyota VITZ F '99
986 - Toyota Yaris F (J) '99
1018 - Volkswagen Lupo1.4 '02

I was trying to avoid ones that are sporty/too powerful, but as you can see there are several options.

Can I sugest we wait a couple of weeks after the game is released, and pick one thats easily/cheaply available ?
Maybe one thats a prize car from the license tests ?

Youichi, I think the only fair way to choose the RPC for the GT5 challenge is to find out which one is most reasonably priced when bought new in the UK :)

Cheapest C3 new is £10.990k http://info.citroen....roen-c3/offers/

Dont know if the new Sirion is in game but can get a new one for under £9k http://www.daihatsu.co.uk/sirion/

Anyone find one more reasonably?!

I think the true spirit of the reasonably priced car was that the low price was it's only attractive feature. They are soulless, tax funded, new world car industry products that people have no connection with (in the UK at least). I think most the cars you listed are actually quite well known in the UK and have a long history here. Are their any less well known manufacturers of **** cars in the game?

Keeping that chain of thought, Japanese cars were once thought of the same way in the UK until people started to realise they didn't break down and were actually better products. For this reason, could we use:

726 Nissan SKYLINE 1500Deluxe (S50D-1) '63
727 Nissan SKYLINE 2000GT-B (S54A) '67
657 Nissan BLUEBIRD 1600 Deluxe (510) '69
965 Toyota SPORTS 800 '65

Or any other 60s Japanese car? At least we'll get RWD :)

Prize cars will be best used. Whats to stop tom dick and harry doing a stage 1 turbo conversion and blowing us all away!?

IIRC you cant mod prize cars.

The TopGear Special Event is unlocked at Level 4, and you need to win the Beginners Event to unlock the track for Free Play.

The Beginner event is in 1962 VW Samba camper vans, and it quite tricky.

Bloody right. I swear those things are on blocks of soap, not hard rubber!

The campervan took me 45 minutes to win. So many second places, then finally got in the slipstream (!!!) of the leader and nailed him at the final turn. Golden gaming moment!

It is really tricky, and it took me many, many, many attempts to get gold at this event (I'm embarrassed to say how many), but its still much easier than the Lotus race! A few things I found were.....

-Just tap the brakes, and don't use them at all between the exit of the Hammerhead and Gambon.

-Minimise steering movements and drive clean lines.

-If you're not at least 7th by the end of Lap 1 then just restart.

-You can overtake one bus on the entry to Chicago on Lap 1, and one going through Chicago. Two more can be picked off round the outside of Hammerhead and another two on the short straight before Gambon, where all the AI brake too hard.

-Presuming you're in 7th or 6th place by Lap 2, all the AI buses in front (bar the leader) get in a big squabble which loses them a lot of time, you can slipstream past the lot before or through Hammerhead and the extra speed gained places you nicely on the leaders tail, setting you up nicely to slipstream him before or after the Follow-Through.

Believe me I nearly gave up on this, so many second places........

Ive won both the Camper Vans and the Elises now. Elises are so difficult, camper Van isnt to bad.

What I find best thing to do with both is brake down the outside going into Hammer Head. You can get 2 elises under braking, 1 on the corner.

mid forties here mate. At my age it isn't all over in five minutes. You need to spend at least half an hour making sure you do these things properly. Innuendo? moi?

Suzuki Swift for 'Reasonably Priced Car'? I did a 1.42.3 so it might be a bit quicker than the real cars, but it's a nice car to drive, it's Premium so you get cockpit view and it's got 125bhp.

Finally got it. I had to analyze where the AI is weak and take advantage of them in those corners. Getting the gold in that event was a really great feeling!
