I too have been using practice mode. I guess we need to take a vote on preferred mode. practice is likely I guess more like 'us'

Try them both and see what you think, I haven't noticed any difference.

Practice mode
Stock car
Comfort softs
The physics is identical to arcade

1'30.152

There is quite a bit more time also

It depends if you're fully comfortable with the pad or not, I'm not, I've hardly ever touched it but I saw a tournament recently where it ultimately didn't make any difference the winner got down to the same time as he had done with a wheel.
For me the wheel is 1 second faster in the first hour 0.5 seconds quicker in the next 4 hours and about 3 tenths quicker after a few days. But that's me and I'm completely rubbish with the pad.

For the limit on this one I would be aiming for around 1'29.8 but since there's not so many competitors I'll probably leave that time there. I think it would be (and even perhaps will be) more workable if the leaderboards are inserted into the game.

Oh, almost forgot this.
I haven't arsed to play with wheel yet, but will soon give a try with pad. Car is Suzuki Swift with stock condition?

Anyone maybe want to do an out and out time on the Nurburgring ?

Might attempt a fast lap in the Toyota 88C later.

Will do once I get it, Ali, Might be a few weeks!

Down to a clean 1m31.4 in the SRPC contest with Dual Shock. Did a 31.0 with a slight cut at Hammerhead. Getting there, Juan!

My driving settings are: everything that can interfere with getting the power down set to off. The only things I have on are 'skid recovery force' and ABS set to 1. Driving on the limit without skid recovery force with the joypad is impossible but I imagine it might be better with a wheel. Juan, do you have it on?

OK! Finally got the damn track unlocked.

Not going to tell you how many attempts it took...

So, are we on Comfort hard or Comfort soft tyres? I've seen both mentioned...

A slow 1:36.978 after 3 laps in the Swift. I had TC turned on at 1 which was really hurting me on the exit of corners and when going through fast corners. Will try again later.

Did a 5:58.127 in my Toyota 88C at the Ring. Losing big time in some of the fast corners.

Did a 1:34.241 with TC and Stability Control turned off. Plenty of time to be found in terms of later braking and cleaner lines through corners.

And that's where I've leave it today cause driving such an underpowered car is sickening.

The car comes with comfort softs.. so just drive it as you buy it, no addons.

You can turn off TC and all that junk of course

1.30.xxx time seems plausible but quite unlikely too. You need extremely good lap or shortcutting. Arcade mode I drove my time punished me few times due too tight drivinglines. I have no idea what practise mode says.

I was aiming for a 1'29 because I know its possible, regarding practice mode and arcade, there is absolutely no difference to the physics or the penalties. Just keep plugging away, carrying more speed after braking and braking as late as possible.

spent about 2 (hungover) hours trying to go quicker today and couldnt get within .3/sec of my best

Tip: make sure the car is almost out of petrol when you do your lap - i'm fairly sure it makes a difference!

I can't seem to get under 1.35/36. I have no idea where you guys are getting these supposed 1.29 times from.

And what the **** is up with the "ghost" car? Is it seperated by fastest sectors or the overall lap? It keeps dissapearing...

It must be said that I'm struggling a bit with the fith itteration of my all time favourite game....

I got a 1:32.844. I can see another 2 secs off that if I can get a few things sorted.

Gained a huge amount at Chicago by coming in very hot and braking later and left.

hammerhead there is lots of time to gain at. the last 2 also probably.

So I finally think I can see where sub 1:30 times might come from.

I think it would be good if we did a proper TT using this track with some different cars when the online ranking listings arrive in the game.

Will they be adding rankings where you can choose friends to see your times against?

Also would any atlasistas be interested in some online races?

Joystick - 1.34.856 only aid was ABS at one. no oil shift even.

It was fun to drive again the first 5-6rounds, after some absent from gt5.. but on lap 15 you get bored..

I was hoping to get some challenge in this thread..

The controller is also a joystick. For some reason they dropped calling joysticks for joysticks when they became handheld.

I guess we could discuss that..

but there is two joysticks on that controller at least.

Im thinking about doing that as i don`t have the space for a steering wheel. im thinking i could challenge the steeringwheel drivers with such a setup.
