I usually go to office by motorcycle.

I've always painted by myself my helmets. I have a Chris Amon's replica (open-face helmet) and now I use a Tom Pryce's full face helmet. Then I'm painting a Ronnie Peterson's replica.
I've painted for my daughter a Gilles Villeneuve's replica and... she has also a black open-face helmet (Jochen Rindt? ;) ) which I have not painted.

This morning, while going to office I've met a bloke riding a big Honda motorcycle, wearing a perfect Mike Hailwood's replica. The helmet which Mike-the-Bike used in the last years of his car racing career: a full face white helmet with a large golden strip edged in red, all around the visor.

Great!

At 08h30 today, Tom Pryce and Mike Hailwood were stopped at traffic lights... riding motorcycles...

I was excited.

:)

Could it be this one?

http://www.mikethebi...shop_helmet.htm

Produced by Nolan.

Years ago, before the replica helmet was particularly popular, I saw a rider in London with a Sheene "lid" - nowadays relatively easy to do, but at the time I thought "could it be...?"

One of the journo's in Performance Bike has a Villeneuve-pattern helmet. I don't think the majority of readers will have a clue.

Updating:

this morning, while going to work with my Tom Pryce helmet (I've recently added two Wales small flags on both sides)... stopped at traffic lights... riding motorcycles... were Tom Pryce and a rider wearing an INCREDIBLE red-with-two-white-rows Jo Siffert's helmet!

Me and the bloke exchanged a glance and a nod, before the starter's flag being lowered...

What a nice day!
:)

Possibly the motorsport enthusiasts who paint their helmet are a great number...

99 or so years ago when I rode a Vespa I had a white helmet. It soon acquired a red stripe down the middle (narrow at front and back and wide in the middle as that's how the masking tape fitted).
After I had competed in a couple of rallies (Kenya-style: 200 milers over part of the Safari route) without success I realised my true worth and it acquired a thin YELLOW streak down the middle.

A friend had a better idea. He painted the peak of his plain white helmet bright orange and added a couple of eyes: Bingo! Donald Duck.
