Hi-I borrowed a Vic Camp Ducati 250 from my mate Tim Hore in 1976 and took it as an extra ride in my first Irish road race, the Cookstown 100.I was busy that year qualifying for the Manx and it counted as another race over the required distance.I remember asking a marshall if the lane we were queing on led to the circuit. It was about 15 feet wide.He said it was the main straight and "if you are going brave and strong you can do a hundred and twenty along here" Yer maun Joey D was in the row in front.Four riders wide and touching elbows.I came in twelth, well overgeared. You got two laps practice immediatly prior to the start of the race! The Ducati was slow but it kept going without losing any speed and handled pretty good.I do believe it was an ex race school bike.Yours in sport,Rotrax.Camp modified road going Dukes to order from around the mid sixties to early seventies. I'm no expert on this, but I think I remember learning from him (he gave me these pics) that there wasn't huge amounts done to them - perhaps a lumpy cam and lots of polishing? His own bikes ridden by blokes such as Paul Smart and Alan Dunscombe must have been fairly special though as they were relatively quick. I think Smartie was using one in GP's until about '69 or perhaps even '70?. I think too he had some help from the factory. Spagiarri's factory bike was pretty successful in the late sixties as I think I remember him giving Passolini's Bennelli some hurry up somewhere or other. The late Dennis Rapley, who was a regular on here, bought a Mach I based, ex Smart bike from Vic, some pics of which should still be here.

Hi Dave
![]()
Steve O'Brien on here has helped me greatly with some phone numbers and stuff, I'll send them on if he's OK with thatI'll be building one soon from a trailie ('71 TS250)..I have the GT stuff for the front but may use GT750 forks and a GSX1100 disc and caliper, don't know yet
I think I am going to stick a 36 mm Mikuni on it ( I got a few from snowmobiles
).
'I am just sick of coppers, cameras, sheep, deisel, farmers and the like.' I got sick of that back in '89 no such trouble out here though![]()

Hi, nice looking bike. Alf Hagon-what a clever bloke and a real hard man on a motorbike.I saw him at the resurected Red Marley hill climb when I was riding one of his J.A.P. engined longtrackers up the hill. I didnt go as good as him -he won it and held the record more than once I believe. In Sport, Rotrax.yes very nice example of a ts 250 but I had the sp 370 stroked out to 454 by Alf Hagon I raced against the likes of Robin Riley, Richard Cutts, Richard Ruth, Chris Turner,
Richard Hempe etc etc sorry If I've missed anybody! names are still coming back!!! Reg Arnold, Bruce Simpson, and I think bruce sleeved his bike down to 350.
