Sad news for all concerned:not leased those who had booked in for the Grand Prix weekend.

For those on TNF who have been to the Green Man will know that the walls of the pub were covered with nostalgic pictures

Sad News for Premier Inns and all concerned, but the pub itself and its photos appear to have been untouched.

Edit: Snap, Alan.

I was in there the other week. It had just been done up again, with various framed photographs of local villages on the walls.

There are only a few motor racing pictures now - Peterson at Woodcote, Jarier (Shadow) and Pace (Brabham) at Becketts and, as I recall, a vintage racing car taken at Lodge Corner, Oulton Park...

All very odd.

I wonder what became of the signed photos of Hawthorn and others from the 50s that were on the walls in the early 60s.
Removed by a previous landlord perhaps?

The Pub is fine, I pass it everyday.
About half of the hotel, which is a much newer building built behind it, is gutted.

my parents tell me that in the 60's it was a great pub and almost a prerunner of a gastro pub. Its latest pre fire incarnation is pretty hideous although as bedrooms pay the bills probably more viable.
What is the Saracens Head like these days? As a child I remember it well (mostly for its Kicker Bocker Glories!) and I am pretty sure a lot of the drivers stayed there in period

Somewhere on TNF is the text of a telegram sent by Jim Clark to IIRC the Lotus factory asking for a room to be booked for him at the Green Man.
