Didn't take this beauty long to sell - arrived in stock this month and sold already:

Beautiful beasts, which Leyland invested neither the appropriate levels of time or money in developing to their full potential - though it must be admitted that certain issues always made the XJ-S the more promising Jaguar to have developed for racing at that time - as it was to prove so soon after the demise of the XJ12C Big Cats.

The advert says "most successful", did they have any success??? I only remember them breaking down on a regular basis, a real let down for this longtime Broadspeed fan.

Indeed, I think we may assume they applying 'successful' to this particular car in relative terms!

2 Poles and and 1 2nd place finish must count as some kind of success, shame they looked far better than that but hey ho it was tax payers money they were spending :drunk:

Yes, but against what opposition? A single well-prepared Alpina BMW - and I don't want to take anything away from the Belgian Luigi BMW team, but both drivers and cars were in a different league compared to Alpina.

Shameless plug :) .

There's a nice 6-page feature on the Broadspeed XJ5.3C in the current Classic Cars (August issue).

And I'd far rather it went on racing XJCs, no matter how unsuccessful, than on bonuses for bankers .....

I never had you down as a member of the tabloid class........ "government funded banker bonus" talk is very 2009 we now concentrate on civil servants pensions (current liaibility on conventional corporate accounting around £3 trillion)
