Hello I am a new poster to the forum and collect older bikes which I restore - mainly Honda's. I have a Yamaha TD1C which apparently belonged to Johan "Bossie" Boshoff of South Africa
.
Is there anyone who can assist me in authenticating this or give me any information that can help me to identify it.

I really would appreciate any input - photos or information etc - on the Yamaha TD1C

Try and get hold of a copy of Gregg Bennetts excellent book 'Yamaha Production Roadracing Motorcycles' it covers in good detail all of Yamaha's two stroke racers from the very beginning up to 1982.

I think its out of print now but sometimes copies become available on ebay, or try Gregg's website www.tz350.net for more info.

hi, johan Boshoff was sadly killed at kyalami 77 riding a tz750 im sure but he did win a fair few races, sorry no pics though.
the biggest things that seperated the td1c from the others was the clutch, they had it running off the gearbox mainshaft instead of the crank and they shortened the exhaust length aswell, the bike was first raced in 67 and i think derek chatterton had one of the very first ones into the uk which ne used to win the british title with.
they pumped out about 37/38bhp .

cheers

Frame/engine number would be a good start, some dealers kept records which still exist to this day, assuming the dealer is still in business, you could also try the SA Yamaha importer of that era if they are still around.

I found some paperwork at home recently that showed I had TD1C 000319 back in the 1970's, I assume they all had frame & engine numbers, although some will have had replacement cases during their life

Didnt Boshoff beat Agostini in SA during the early seventies? or certainly gave him a good run for his money I seem to remember.
