in the making.

I heard that Sylvestor Stallone is making a new movie based on the F1 script. I could just see critiques of this movie starring an Italian-American actor, coming out of Hollywood of Jewish producers from the land of Yankee Doodle.
I could also see the feud stirring up on this forum from the Brits, Americans, Canadians, Germans, Italians and perhaps the Japanese.

I thought he gave up on this and was doing a CART movie.

I don't think any post-teenager with a triple digit IQ takes Sylvester Stallone seriously as a film maker or an actor. Any racing movie he makes, based on F1 or CART, is likely to do the sport more harm than good.

Driven is the current name of this film, and it is based on CART. Previous working titles include Champs and Formula One. As the change in titles suggests, the film began as an F1 film and was rewritten to use CART as the background. I think I heard that Stallone had a great deal of difficulty negotiating with Bernie (imagine that!), and he gave up and turned to CART.

The Internet Movie Database page on the film is http://us.imdb.com/Details?0132245. The official Driven web site is http://movies.warnerbros.com/driven/.

Did anyone see the new Robbie Williams video: it's classic...It shows Robbie as an ace of the 70's competing against Jackie Stewart with actual historic footage (Ferrari 312 B's, March 701's, etc) and a nice little story for a 2-minute clip...

I'm grateful to the powers that be that Stallone and Harlin were NOT allowed to make a F1 movie.

Apparently Ecclestone thought there was too much drugs, violence and sex in the proposed Stallone F1 film.

Apparently Ecclestone thought there was not enough money in it for himself.

This Atlas interview with Bernie from February gives his side of the story, as well as some quotes from Stallone. Bernie claims the "film lawyers" got in the way, and he didn't like the script portraying an F1 team running drugs. Stallone says Bernie was greedy and kept raising the price.

I thought it was now called RPM....but they're probably gonna change it again anyway. Sly plays an ex driver or one of the older drivers or something like that. He takes on one of the younger drivers as his "student" - a bit like the karate kid i guess. This is what i have heard and read, but don't know how much of it is correct/accurate. Either way, its destined for failure - as if anyone like Stallone could fit into a race car realistically. I'm sure he weighs more than Wurz does.

Saw a pic once of him sitting inside a car, with Firestone sponsorship on his overalls.....there were Goodyear tyres on the car.

... and wasn't it about a rookie driver (supported by the super-ex-driver 'Stallone') who would eventually win the WDC???

Thank god (or Bernie?!? *evil-grin) for not making a movie out of that!

Actually he was here in Montreal filming parts of the race in the Ville Marie Tunnel, anyways about his size i think Bernie Eccolstone is taller than Sly no joke he's really short

Bernie Ecclestone is shorter than Sylvester Stallone.

Whether it's called "RPM", "Driven", or "Champs", I can't wait to see just what Stallone has done with the movie.

doohanOK.
