Next season there will be a new car in GP2. But what will happen with the old car? I heard that the GP2 Asia will also race with the new car, so there will be no more engagement for the GP2 cars of 2005-2007 and the cars of 2008-2010. What will happen to them?

I can imagine that the Auto GP series will race them, because they only race old A1 GP Lolas. And the series organisator Coloni has a good relationship with the GP2 series. Perhaps they will get the cars if Coloni makes place for a new team in GP2...

I also can imagine that the Superleague Formula will race them, because they drove with old ChampCar Panoz since years.

What do you think, will happen with the cars?

Sold to collectors and enthusiasts? Gifted to colleges and museums?

As long as they are not used to set up another pointless and unnecessary series which ends up getting grids of about 9.

Autosport say:

Despite being visually very different, the basic chassis remains fundamentally the same apart from an enlarged driver head protection area.

This means that teams will have the option of either buying brand-new cars or having their current tubs modified to bring them up to spec.

I'd imagine that most of them will be converted.

They could en up in AutoGP (they use the former A1GP cars now): http://www.autogp.org/it/
or maybe in the Formula Master although a GP2 car might be a bit too fast for that class: http://en.wikipedia...._Formula_Master. Formula Master had it's final season last year (financial problems I assume caused them to cancel the 2010 season) but maybe they can find money to restart it with the old GP2 cars, it's inlikely but you just never know.

Give it long enough, and they'll probably be appearing in EuroBOSS and hillclimbs.

With a nice V12 engine strapped in the back of them.

That makes the difference. ;)

My first thought was that maybe HRT will be interested in buying some of them to copy those sophisticated aero solutions that are on this cars

Unlike A1 and some other series, the GP2 cars are owned by the individual teams so there is no real opportunity for a bulk sale of the whole lot to form a new series. So they will go where all old racing cars go - wherever that is.
