Makes a change for me to be looking for a person as opposed to a car colour....

Many years ago I met the lady whose name appears above. She was, at the time, a keen motorsport photographer. She let me have a couple of lovely photos of a certain crappy F.1 car.

I have tried to locate her again for reasons I won't go into here. I Googled and I think, found an address for her, in Dunstable, along with an e-mail address but nothing seems to have come about following my message to that address. I have no idea how old this information might be. I got it from something called Blueboomerang.com.

I wonder if anyone else knows her or knows of her whereabouts?

Barry I do not know if this is going to help but there are several Maureen Magees listed here.

BTW that 'crappy' F1 car was considerably better than the Andrea Moda which despite 24 qualifying attempts only logged 11 short Monaco laps, you did way better than the 160 odd non starters here including DYWA who spent from 1974 - 1980 getting as far as one aborted attempt at qualifying for a round of the Aurora AFX championship and went way further than USF1 which never got completed on the drawing board let alone off the drawing board despite a gazillion times more hype.

Be proud and if you can't be proud be happy you were there in August 1972, many of us might give a perfectly good limb up to have been in your shoes

This site has a selection of her photos available for sale - I assume she's still active as some of them are very recent. Worth looking at just for the photos, but I'm sure they'll be able to put you in touch with her.

Barry, I always use to see hear at many races at Silverstone throughout the years, but not seen her around for the last 18months,last i heard she was in sheltered accomadation in the Dunstable area, Also that she has little to do with the website in terms of contact as the website is run by somebody else, A Lovely Lady with some Great stories of the past ,Will ask around at Silverstone this weekend if anybody knows anything.

Just resurrecting this thread with a link to Di Spires' book which has an interesting page on Maureen Magee.  It mentions the late 1970s but I think Maureen was around earlier. (Edit..of course she was...Barry has photos of the Connew!)  I had another 1972 print of hers, Ickx and the 312B2, again at the Brands Grand Prix.

In the footage of the 1971 Brands 1000km (linked on a recent thread) there's a female photographer shown at around the 6.50 mark.  Is that Maureen do you think?

From memory Maureen Magee had photos published in CCC , so former CCC staff might be the people to check out , also Chris Witty ( on facebook)

In the late 60s Maureen used to attend Thruxton at most meetings and I believe lived in Salisbury.

Howden Ganley asked me if I would try to contact Maureen last year with regard to his recently released book and with the assistance of Christian Klein (Red Bull) & his father Johannes with whom Maureen was very friendly, I managed to make contact with her in August of last year.

 

She retains her vast archive but no longer does prints herself. However she told me last year that she will lend out slides/negatives for a fee.

I wish to notify all those who knew my sister Photographer Maureen Magee who has a long history as an F1 photographer and was called The fire engine by Nikki Lauda because she always wore red, has sadly passed away at the age of 82.

Very sad news. The only image of me actually interviewing a driver (Eddie Cheever) was taken by Maureen, I remember her well. RIP
