I need to renew all the NAS bolts in an F3000's suspension set up as they look elderly and I don't know their history. Anyone know a good stockist with keen prices? A Google search showed http://www.nasbolts.co.uk has anyone used these people? Their lack of any other means of contact other than e-mail bugs me.... Thanks.

Chris

I wonder if you don´t have your prioriities wrong.

Here you are working on an F5000 car with a value of many-many 10s of thoiusands of whatever currency and you are worried about getting nuts and bolts at the best price!!! The welfare ofg the vehicle is in no small way depending on the security of thse fixxings that you are using which includes their resistance to loosenin g under vibration.

You should be worrying about using grade 8 hardware with the best rolled threads that you can buy and where suitable, top grade elastic stop nuts.

The good stuff isn´t cheap and you should not worry about saving a couple of 100 whatever currency.

I my self would not buy any of this except over the counter so that I can see first hand what they are offering.

Top quality industrial and air frame supply houses are good starting points.

If you don´t beieve me have a read of Carrol Smithś Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners and Plumbing. It is also a good startr if you don´t have a high appr4ciation for what you are getting into.

Regards

Errr, no way have I got my priorities wrong :) I want to buy original spec NAS bolts and renew what are probably already quite OK fasteners, but I don't want to pay over the odds for what are quite costly items. I can cite countless examples of how a bit of research on finding the right source for parts and assemblies can save a lot of money. There's a recession on, that's growing deeper, my priority is surviving it :) I have all the Smith tomes, and have read them all. No where does he seem to recommend buying from the dearest supplier ;) Reading your post I have a feeling you think NAS bolts are cheap and nasty and Grade 8 stuff is better, which is not the case at all.....

I have bought AN bolts from Aircraft Spruce in California who have long history in Aerospace stuff but of course it is easier if you can get yourself/a friend to Corona to collect but they do ship worldwide.

http://www.aircrafts...s/ha/bolts.html

Trident Racing at Silverstone are another source and are helpful but it is usually "full std retail" on pricing.

THey are not so good on non metric but Orbital fasteners in Watford, England hold a very wide range of bolts inclding 10.9 capscrews are will sell any quantity.

BTW did F5000 cars use NAS originally? > I am not challenging the use of NAS bolts but just curious.

It's an F3000 Lola, 1991. The earlier poster must have misread it as an F5000. Thanks for the links, I have used Trident a few times, just bought some Camlocs off them in fact. As you say, they are retail plus though, which is fair enough if you are stuck trackside, but I have time to shop around right now :)

NAS Hardware.

The problem usually faced is small quantities of various sizes. Not too many suppliers want to deal with customers who only need small quantities.

Some of the posts above have suggested a selection of the usual suppliers.

You might also try.
Here
The spec sheets alone are very useful.

Another good supplier of aircraft hardware is.
Here
A great website BTW.

Do not discount using the British AGS A102 spec bolts as functional equivilant to NAS 1303 you might save a lot of money.

All of the RALT cars and most british aircraft were assembled using AGS A102.

Best of luck.
