I bought GPL when I was about 16 when it was just released. I was 1) Too young and impatient to have the commitment to get any good at it and 2) I didn't have a wheel.
It took about another 6 years before I dug it out again, got a good wheel, started downloading good setups, racing in cockpit view and actually taking the time to learn how to drive it. I've never got satisfaction like that from a racing sim before. Just actually making a lap with no mistakes or killing myself lol! I'm not great at racing sims, but this was one of the few where I actually felt encouraged to use manual gears.
As a racing simulator. YES it is (or was) the best. It was groundbreaking.
I still enjoy F1 challenge/rFactor/GTR et al though...

Hi everyone
I've seen this around the internet, but have never been able to find anywhere to get the sim from
Would anybody be able to help me or point me in the right direction for finding it as it looks fantastic?
Regards
Ben

At http://www.gpllinks.org/ you'll find all the inks you'll need for GPL.
The CD is available at http://www.mastertro...roductLabelID=1

I've got a bit of a problem with GPL on my new computer - The menu screens seem off-kilter with my monitor, like it's been moved down and to the left. Luckily in the actual car the screen is centred though! Any ideas? Also, I assume the best 1967 cars are the latest GPLEA releases? And is there a pack specifically updating the original tracks? (I'd rather stay simple before branching out )

See http://srmz.net/inde...amp;#entry54219
and http://srmz.net/inde...amp;#entry55652
It looks like there is some kind of "scaling" option that might need to be adjusted.
Also make sure that your monitor is connected using a DVI cable.
The only way I know to get all the latest car and track graphics in one shot is by installing GPL with the GPLPS installer, however Monaco has to be done seperately as some computers can't handle that one.
GPLPS installer - http://gplps.org/wb/...l-installer.php
Monaco Rocks - http://www.dixierunn...ers.net/mrocks/
But to update tracks individually, go to the GPL Track Database at http://gpltd.bcsims.com/ and for each of the original tracks click on the SRMZ button to be directed to the best updates.

Played the new Sportscar Mod for GPL over the Holidays. WOW! What fun. If you have been frustrated in the past by overly sensitive GP cars-I really can't drive anything more than the Advanced Trainer-you should like the Sportscar mod. VERY appropriate to be lapping LeMans in a Ford GT rather than an open cockpit car. AND in just one evening I shaved a minute off of my Ring time using the Porsche! Much more forgiving to drive than the open wheelers.
From a historical point of view it is interesting to see the tracks-especially the Targa. You can now experience all those famous photos taken in the towns around the circuit..
