I hope there’s no truth to the rumour doing the rounds at Sandown this weekend just gone, that Mallala is going to lose it’s ANZAC Historics meeting?

This was a preliminary race at the October meeting of 1964...

Davison won from Stillwell and set a new outright lap record on the way. Bib's Monaco was in Buick-engined form at this time, Cooper didn't figure in the results of this one, Tony Osborne filling third in a Cooper.

But it was a red-letter day for Elfin Monos in the main race. Davison beat Stillwell in his Brabham 2.5 with a close tussle all the way. Cooper was third ahead of Bill Pile and Andy Brown as the Monos dominated the 1500 category.

Ann Ozgo has reassured all that Mallala Historics are safe. Victorian drivers heard there was a move afoot to switch them to The Bend. Ann says the that The Bend is looking to add a Historics event to the Sth Australian calendar in an Oct/Nov window to compliment the ANZAC Mallala event. So, happy days, it seems!

A logical rumour, considering the same people own both circuits.

That story was around here in the early days of The Bend, just guesswork, I suspect.

 A lot of rumours re Mallala since Shahins bought the place 2 and a half years ago. Its life is limited as is State level motorsport in SA.

Place is run down in comparison to what it was with Clem.

I do know that many competitors are not in love with Tailem Bend with entries double and triple the cost. Far too much being taken from the competitors gate.

From all accounts a good place to drive but not great to spectate at. And yes I have been there as a spectator.
