Hi Guys

I'm trying to track down some pictures of the Old Man Emu Mazda RX-2 Coupe rally car that was run by Leon Prgomet during the 1970's in Australia.

This car was painted chrome yellow, and it had the Old Man Emu "bar lug" tyre tracks painted in red diagonally up the quarter panel and across the roof. Apparently the whole team of cars was painted in a similar fashion so any pics of the other cars would also be great.

If anyone has any pics or has any idea where I might look for them it would be greatly appreciated.

I've managed to get one pic taken after the car was sold and later in its life, but I'd like to find some more pics if possible.

I don't know where Leon is these days, but Keith Byrn of Premier Panel Beating (Greenacre, Sydney) was a mate of his.

Leon is still doing motors (my RX-4 engine is with him at the moment awaiting being rebuilt, and the was repainted by Keith back in the late 80's!) and all kinds of interesting things. I'm actually a good mate of his and I'm trying to track down these pics for him as somewhere along the line all his have been lost. What I'm basically trying to compile is a whole lot of stuff from over the years that he has done so we can have them to put on the blog he is going to start, which will look at the the things he has done over the years, how to build Rotary engines properly, tuning theories and practical stuff like that.

But for now the mission is getting as many pics of the RX-2 as possible. Leon and Keith are still in contact so I assume (but I will ask) if he's asked Keith if he has any.

I cannot believe I came across this, but there is footage of Leon Prgomet's original OME RX-2 Coupe in a Leyland Brothers feature from 1974 on the Old Man Emu racing team.

I thought some of you guys would really appreciate seeing it.



Still looking for any more pics or footage though.

I've grabbed a whole bunch of screen shots from that clip to go with the few pics I have of the car after Leon had sold it to a mate of his in the late 1970's.

 

Any more pics though would be greatly appreciated.
