I am not a PS3 owner but why would you choose that over a cheap wheel and pedals?

So you don't have some huge contraption in your living room.

Most Ps3 owners output to TVs.

I would deffinately not waste my time with the 50 dollars for this and save the rest for a G25 which isnt too expencive anymore with the G27 having replaced it.

But that is pretty neat. It looks cool.

Ill be honest, I currently have a problem with a wheel. No problem to buy a g27 but at the moment it is not convenient to have one in the room with my tv, I have nowhere to put it when not in use, and would need a frame mounted one to be able to use it.

Im not sure however that this will actually work.. odd little hand controls can be a lot more trouble than they are worth.

I totally agree with you baddog. Plus, if you happen to have several games consoles, this means several controllers/wheels to store and, unless can afford an extra room for your video games, you just end up with tons of boxes in your living-room.

The big difference is that there is a range on the gas/brake with separate potentiometers. Current PS3 controllers are odd -they were not made with racing games in mind. R2 and L2 buttons are almost binary.

The thumb wheel has to give better control than a little joystick.

It's not out yet, but I'll be mindful of reviews. It's rare that racing peripherals like this are better.

There's only one better controller I've ever seen...

Looks cool, but I always thought the only thing wrong with the PS3 controller was the triggers.

These make it a bit better, very cheap too:

Looks good to me - and cheap! I have to admit that I just can't get on with the joysticks, I thought perhaps I was the only person in the known Universe that didn't use them, so this controller cheered me up! There is no way I would be able to use a wheel without another divorce...

i've always found the left analog stick in too much of an awkward position to use properly :S

Those are just extenders? Doesn't fix the range of control issue.

Sony purposely avoided making an Xbox-type controller for the Ps3 because they had development deals with wheel makers.

My main issue with PS3 controllers is that they are too small.

The triggers arent great but they are not close to binary, just hard to smoothly control. I have a lot more trouble with accurate steering with the stick I think.

And no, I didnt buy a wheel. Had various 'might get this' ideas recently but then realised I have a fundamental problem with storage and use right now.

Looks good. I've never had a problem with analogue acceleration by pushing forward on the right hand analogue thing but I cannot handle pulling towards me to do the brakes. Doesn't seem intuitive and reminds me of people using joysticks for driving in the early 90s.

At last, an analogue brake to use with the hands. I hope that it feels "harder" the further down you push, like a real brake pedal.

Those interested in this controller may also want to look at an alternative racing pad, though only compatible with PS2 & PS3: http://www.fanatec.d...?id=260&lang=en

Is this only available in the US? i havent seen it in any UK shops yet.
I fairly recently bought a wheel, but couldnt be arsed with it so gave it away, and i hate using analog stick or trigger on pad for accelerating. If i can find one i might give this pad a try.

I ordered this controller about a week and a half ago, roughly. I'll post my thoughts whenever it arrives in the mail.

I can't believe it's not wireless -if you need wires, might was well use a wheel and pedals.
