Hey All,

Was watching the motorola cup last PM on Speedvision and saw these brakes running on a Porsche sponsored by the company (NewTech in Canada), Looked like a good concept and the car performed well...

Do you think there would be an application for these things in f1? or are they too heavy and f1 already has all the braking power they need...

I do not see any upside to this design vs. carbon/carbon designs in use already in F1. From what I saw on the website, they do not even claim performance or weight improvements compared to conventional brakes. Current designs produce more than adequate braking torque already. F1 engineers would like to see two areas of improvement in any braking system proposed to supplant current designs: First, a lighter system which allows lessening unsprung weight. Ane secondly, a brake that doesn't need as much cooling air to be drawn from the airstream which would free up more airflow for downforce creation. If a proposed system cannot provide either or both of these improvements, I really cannot see the point as far as F1 applications.
