I only found out last week that Lionel Regal had died. I have to be honest and say that I think it's a bloody miracle that more don't on the continental hillclimbs. They really are quite incredible roads.
There is quite obviously(in minutes and miles!) a difference between climbs in other parts of europe and the UK I was just wondering if the roads that are used now have been in the championships for a long time? or are they new routes? See ing what roads are used now I wonder what outrageous courses have been shelved?
Compared to circuits in the UK; hillclimb courses here have survived pretty well. All quite short, but are still being used. Is it the same overseas? Not shortness...historical use.
By the way..... if anyone can post pics from Great Auclum circa 1972-1974 i would love to see them.
All the best
Carl
