There is little known about Horst Schübel. The German should bought into Lotus in 1991. For 50% he should pay 4 Millionen dollars, but he only paid halb a million and so Schübel was out of Lotus.

He had a top team in German Formula Three (how many victores? From when until when?), with Bernd Schneider being champion with him in 1987, in a Dallara VW

The team also started in DTM from 1990 until 1995 with Opel and Alfa Romeo, winning four races (all with Alfa, three with Christian Danner as driver)



Any more known about him?

I made a quick search and found a short bio in german from 2005.

There is not much I could figure out. His company Schübel Engineering still seems to exist (at least back in 2005).
There is a Schübel Engineering that makes(?) motorsport accesoires but has no website.
That whole thing seems to be a bit like Don Nichols and his Shadow team...

Thank you. New is that Victor Russo was shareholder at his team and he was racing driver until 1985, but no details found.

I also tried to find more information, as his F3 team was quite renowned and then he had a DTM/ITC and, alter, FIA-GT team that used to be a B-squad of some Manufacturers. I think it was he who bought Marcel Bartels to Lotus in 1991, but the German never achieved the results he had promised.

That is correct.

If my memory is correct, he also was involved in the series production of Fomula Opel/Vauxhall Lotus cars for a certain time.

 

And I clearly remember him hillclimbing a Formula V car at about 1985.

Schubel was one of those unfortunates who acquired a Porsche 911 GT1 in 1997.

 

The intention was to campaign #102 in the FIA GT and at Le Mans.

 

Even with driver talent at the level of Bob Wollek and Pedro Lamy, all that could be achieved at the first two FIA GT rounds were sixth and seventh places.

 

Subsequently, the team posted a fine fifth place at La Sarthe, the first of the 911 GT1 brigade, though they were 30 laps down on the winner.

 

Schubel described the 911 GT1 as 'outdated' after the race, passing on his car to Roock Racing and not taking advantage of the £250,000 'upgrade' that Porsche belatedly offered its customers.

Yes, precisely. It was Lamy's first season with Prototypes, and it didn't produce proper results. Both he and Woolek were deeply disappointed. Lamy expected better to learn, and Wollek thought he deserved a place in the main team (with reason), so it wasn't an easy year.
