With the year about to end i figured it would be a nice to time to reflect on the best races of 2010. Here's a few of my choices;

Nascar Nationwide series Road America: Was just watching this video and was reminded of what a great race it was. A looked at the thread of the race on here and smiled at the comments. I clearly wasn;t the only one who enjoyed cheering JV on.

Nascar Sprint Cup at Watkins Glen: The Montoya-Ambrose fight was one of the most intense of the year. And with these cars, on this track, they could actually pass each other. Great race.

F1 Melbourne: Thought this was the best race of the year myself. Had everything. Great passes, great defensive driving, strategy, that moment where time slows down as you try and figure out if that really is the leader in the gravel trap. One to remember.

F1 Montreal: Please Pirelli, take note of this one.

GT1 World Championship at Interlagos: The championship race featured an amazing 4-way battle. The kind of which I thought was only possible in bike racing. Good fight for the lead too rounded off a great race.

Petit Le Mans: First time i'd really followed the petit closely and I really enjoyed it. Track is one of the best in the world, big field, and a great fight between Audi and Pugeot.

ALMS
- Laguna Seca - probably the best GT2 battle of the year. I mean, the action never stopped! Loved the new 6-hour format.
- Petit Le Mans - Fantastic fights in P1 and GT2. First and only victory for Corvette this year!
- Long Beach - Lola Aston Martin vs Highcroft - wow!! Also, plenty of usual street clashes and crashes.

LMS
- Spa 1000km -my favourite Audi-Peugeot fight of the year, and the rain made it even better - McNish was at his best. Plus, who could forget the famous power cut and confusion. Even Hindy was speechless!

V8 Supercars
- Queensland - Courtney really started his championship run from here. Sprint tyres proved themselves again.
- Surfers Paradise, race 2 - Last ~10 laps, the lead battle between Whincup and van Gisbergen... unbelievable.

Also, obvious mentions: Le Mans and Nurburgring 24 hours. Fabulous Risi-Corvette chase at the Sarthe, and as for the Ring... no words needed.

I also thought the Australian GP was the best race of the season.

My favorite result of the season was watching Mark Webber win the Monaco GP.

There was a race this year (BTCC) where Jason Plato came from the back to win, forget what it was (damn you Sky +) but i'd nominate that - granted BTCC doesn't have as huge a following as F1 but damn the racing is good :)

Yeah most BTCC races are like that. Field was a little small maybe but they put on great racing again this year. It also provided one of the best comedy moments of the year.

Marc Marquez at Estoril was the standout ride for me. Not so much for his pace, but the mix of cool-headedness and testicles (in a 17-year-old! ) that allowed him to get on a bike he'd just crashed going to the restart grid, start at the back, and finish the lap fighting for the lead.

Stoner at Phillip Island and Lorenzo's late charge at Jerez too. Jumping into the lake felt like a piece of genuine, unRossi-like emotion. You just knew he was going to be world champion after that.

Button's win at Melbourne felt very important somehow, if only to demonstrate that he hadn't 'lost it' after the 2009 Turkish GP.

Dungey vs. Reed vs. Townley at Red Bud was a superb battle, in AMA Motocross.

Best race was undoubtedly Laverty vs. Sofuoglu at Imola to decide the 2010 World Supersport championship. It was the 'axe-murderer' version of Edwards and Bayliss in 2002. Then Kenan went to Moto2 and proved the guys at the front of WSS are Grand Prix-worthy talents, and put on a fantastic show.

Agreed, amazing racing between a champion and a young gun through the concrete canyons!

F1: Brazil, China, Australia, Valencia and Abu Dhabi. For me personally, Malaysia and Japan were great also.
FIM MX2 Italian GP at Fermo/USA GP
MotoGP Laguna Seca
AMA SX Pourcel's 2nd LE championship in the next to last round/LV EW championship
WRC Rally Turkey with Kimi bringing home 5th, yea baby

Some of those because I watched live, which can make a big difference in one's perspective of the race.

Thank you very much for that!

Remember watching that (sat on the sofa with the Mrs) pissing ourselves at the carnage unfolding in front of us, say what you want about the BTCC (and they do get a fair old bashing) but they do entertain the crowds. :)
