I am no.39 on TR3. I believe you are right on 21 although thought 24 may be Norris Farrow.Swine ! Made me go fossicking for my Ceramco Grand Prix programme...which I couldn't find ! I suspect you are #39 Des : 21 Phil Payne and 24 probably Murray de Lacy.
Will try again if that dratted programme ever turns up...

Hi Peter,Hi Des. Long time, no see. Think the last time we passed was in the transit lounge at LA. And that was a few years ago. What are you up to these days?
Oh, and I give up. Which one is you?

Gidday mate, we are both still alive and well...thats a tick!!! Also great to know you are doing well. Sitting by the pool typing this which only means I have a day of for a change. Over in August, maybe a beer? actually be pretty keen to catch up with anyone on the forum especially if theres any meetings on? Opportune that you posted that pic because I remember so well racing against Ken Fletcher on his TZ700. He would steam past and we would niggle at him in the corners. I think Ken got dirty with us but I can't recall the results..Enter GD66"Hi Peter,
I remained in the UK and we, family that is, spent 4 weeks in Aussie and New Zealand up to New Year this Xmas. Great it was and Sean Barry-Walsh leant me a bike to have a spin. Came close to getting nicked. I telephoned Sean to let him know when I was returning and he said the 600 was capable of 200kph. I was not intending to go fast but as coming away from new motorway tunnel inland from Orewa travelling South a nice stretch of clear open road presented itself so I tucked in and as the needle was creeping over 190kph this white saloon about 200m in front did a rather TOO quick move to the hard shoulder so immediately squeezed on the anchors and I was doing 100 as I went past mr police car. Irresponsible I know!?
Enjoying life in the UK and only on a bike for first time in 22 years in 2009 to go and have a look at the TT after all those years. I have a building services consultancy keeping me busy and funds flowing in. Also set up an organisation called heropath that puts on workshops for teenagers the learning centred around being at their best and having readiness to grasp opportunities that lead to a life well lived. Following one's passion is a good start and the racing part for me, as I suspect for many others on this forum who have done something similar, despite the trials will have lead to a life well lived and MANY fascinating stories to tell. A hero's journey! As we grow up it's a matter of updating!

It IS good! I will send you contact details so you can contact to meet up. Bound to be some meetings on as well - these days the British Championship paddock looks as professional as the GP paddock of the 80's. I have not been close to the racing scene since retiring from it apart from the Linsdells who are road racing specialists. Ollie has been recovering well from his Manx crash that had him in an induced coma for around 3 weeks. Despite parental protestations he wants nothing more than race again. Steve, his dad, tells me the motorcycle business in the UK especially with new bike sales has slumped over the past two years. Tough times.Gidday mate, we are both still alive and well...thats a tick!!! Also great to know you are doing well. Sitting by the pool typing this which only means I have a day of for a change. Ah GD66 the archivist!? This race was in 1977 and I was thinking this morning I am sure No. 83 had a name like Hulme and so Bill Holmes it is! Mike Vinsen and Norris Farrow were riding 250's and 350's under the Bob Haldane livery then. In front of Phil Payne is that Wylie?Good point, I thought maybe Norris had moved onto the big fourstrokes by then, but with Bob Haldane livery it most likely is him. Who is the mystery guest #83 though ? Bill Holmes, for years the custodian of that number, had packed it in by then. Have shot the pic to Murray de Lacy to try for an id.
And sorry Stu, can't help with results as I was living in Aussie by then and didn't go. Brother Clive had a gallop there on his Egli Kawasaki though, which means it was probably in 1980 or '81.

Yes I was. When I was first over in the UK Mick and Kate initially took pity on me I think on a cold and misty morning in the Cadwell Park paddock. A fried breakfast was SOOOOO good. That was the beginning of the friendship and 3 years later Mick wrote me 14 pages of notes to ride the lap of the IOM that I distilled to two A4 sheets. It was a real help to ride the Island fast quickly. It would not surprise me if Mick is not STILL riding the IOM TT!!Hi Des
I seem to remember you, were you a friend of Mick Chatterton and Kate.
Am I correct ?

Not to mention Gary Padgett and Steve Wright as well .....welcome to the forum Des, good to hear all is well - I was only a kid at the time but remember the great British Formula 2 dices you regularly had with the likes of Phil Mellor, Ray Swann, Graeme McGregor and co. Will dig out the old photo albums and post a few pics.
I seem to recall an off one year at the TT at the Black Dub, is that right?
