According to f1.pl, Robert had an accident today in Rally Ronde di Andora. The car (Skoda Fabia) is significantly damaged. The co-odriver left the car on his own. Kubica was fully conscious and was extracted from the car by medical staff and taken to the hospital by helicopter.
More to follow...

What can happen though is that things are mistranslated, and things like 'fracture', 'sprain' and 'injury' are words that get lost or unintentionally changed I'd imagine.

F1 testing has started why is he still participating in rallies.
I think this was going to be his last one before putting rallying on hold for the F1 season...

There's no immediate threat to his life, but there is RISK of possible amputation of his leg!!! His navigator is all OK.
It has happened in the 1st stage of the rally, Robert has been P1 in shakedown.

If Kubica is unavailable for first few races, it'll be Grosjean and Petrov then for Renault for the first few rounds.
Really hope he's OK.
Edd Straw's article on the site seems to impy Senna, but perhaps we should wait till we see exactly where Kubica is at before we start debating over his replacement.

Well, I think that Senna is the first reserve driver. If Kubica is unavailable for first few races, it'll be Grosjean and Petrov then for Renault for the first few rounds.

From Italian news :
"Kubica crashed into the wall of a church. His conditions where terrible, almost life-threatening. Firemen extracted him conscious from the car and he was taken to hospital by helicopter. No mortal wounds but medical officers confirmed he was in red code. It seems he received a hard leg trauma (probably broken thighbone) and they were even thinking of amputating it."

Fractured wrist, broken legs, smashed hip and now amputation.
Welcome to the Twitter generation.
I have to agree. I'm hoping to hell that Robert just comes out and says "Surprise! I'm a bit bashed up, but everything's fine!".

They do not say anything about amputation!I hate to bring the bad news, but according to StopAndGO, which sadly in this case is very trustworthy in the world of junior single-seaters & Italian rallying and racing, Robert Kubica has been extracted by fireman from his Skoda Fabia S2000 and he's been airlifted to the hospital.

They're getting that from the ANSA news agency, who are reasonably reliable usually, but it all depends on their sources of course on a story by story basis. Honestly though, after Massa's crash in 2009 I've learnt that we don't know anything until much later. Because there's always an idiot like Eddie Jordan who will announce to the world that he had a "bash to the chin".Stupid Sky News has the words "seriously injured" in it's newsbar crawl.

Every 5 minutes his condition seems to get reported to be worse and worse, hope it's just media escalation and not true

yeah ans also Grosjean is already committed to GP2 this seasonObviously I hope the news reports are sensationalist and that he just has minor injuries. I think it was made very clear that Senna is first reserve, he's also fresher than Grosjean regarding F1.

Mah, I hardly think Renault would put all the team into the hands of Senna and Petrov...I think it was made very clear that Senna is first reserve, he's also fresher than Grosjean regarding F1.
Anyway let's wait for official news. Broken femur and wrist is what we know at the moment from italian sources.

The navigator is luckily unscathed.
Accident happened apparently 4.6 Km before the start ("while the car was going to the start line"). Odd.

His car hit the wall of a church, and the prognosis vital is reserved...

This is awful news. Lets just hope he's ok. From the early sounds of it, he'll be out of racing for a long while, but thats not really the important thing. Just that he's going to be ok.
