I heard that Pat Symonds was trying out something similar with Renault in 2008. Unfortunately Nelson Piquet crashed at Singapore while using the prototype version, and Pat and Flav pretended he'd crashed on purpose to keep their plans secret.

Let's hope he has better luck at Williams!

Good old Pat, always on the cutting edge and sometimes more. I really didn't think about 2008 incident until you brought it up. When Flich Throttle was a mere whisper in the 90s, between Jacques and Craig Pollock, if anyone would follow through it'll be Flavio, a executive flich decision.

Very interesting read, SeanValen! Is it too late to nominate it for Opening Post of the Year?

  It took me some time on my travels to really think about the issues covered on throttle management.  I'm glad you took something from this, in my time foruming in the past 15 years, I've seen F1 change alot, back to the past, to the future, then back again, one  lap qualifying, fuel qualifying, traction control yes, no, yes, its back on again/ Groove tyres, no grooves, tire wars, no wars, one race tyre, pit stops, no tyre pitstops. It seems we've reached a on-off trend. It's a system of rule change disorder, out of this disorder comes the flich movement.  We need new technology, we need cutting edge f1 to return, Flich Throttle Techique has always been a symbol for something more for f1 fans who have been presented with it all again, and again.

We deserve better, we deserve Flich

Camawwwwn, Villeneuve again? I heard Caterham are developing a brake-steering technique, will we see Hakkinen return with them next year?

LOL...ahh, Mika and 1998 McLaren. If Brake steer was not banned, Michael and Ferrari would not even come close and who knows.... What if Mac developed it more for 1999-2000 seasons?

I see a connection between Senna & Honda, Honda and BAR, BAR and Villeneuve and the new Honda engine. Maybe the flitch was handed down and has now been electronically incorporated into the new Honda project, which is why Alonso (who recently admitted touring Honda's F1 base) has been so keen to get on board. After all, Senna is his idol!

Coincidence? I think not.

Those are strong points. My overall conclusions, evaluations and recommendations

Conclusion; We have strong historical links with the biggest of names in the sport for flich, thanks to your excellent historial work, knowlege and detective mind, F1 has a way of making us tie past, present and future elements to define our debates, You have to go over the limit, to find the limit on track and in a debate, which sometimes does mean traveling into a spiritual gripworld of our own making, the subjective analysis that we all adhere to when there seems no ideal explanation for anything.

Evaluations: Senna and Honda mytisque grows

Recommendations: We must have patience, more answerss will come :smoking:

The third brake pedal still amuses me to this day, although I did like Ron Dennis's quote "It's not the panacia of performance." I do think Jacques took  inspiration from the third brade pedal to sparehead his Flich Throttle Future -FTF,  :smoking: .

The most stunning breaking news though is that Marussia is developing a spin-throttle technique. That's why they are desperate to get back onto the grid and Yuji Ide is likely to make his re-appearance in an F1 car as an expert in driving with that approach!

Sopa Legend,  Excellent work, with a eye of consistency throughout the sentence, not overkill, just enough kill to fuse us with new upcoming flich projects,

Spin-Throttle, glad you brought it up - I heard of this far back as 1993, before Senna left for Williams, he was asked to test some pedals that were designed with sensors that kinda throttle mapped the corners with precise pre-configured acceleration, then you could change the throttle during the race, flich it up, flich it down, FLICH SPIN was like the balls of a mouse sandwiched inbetween the rubbers of the acceleration pedal. :smoking:  :smoking:  :smoking:

The idea didn't go into production as the chips were too big for the pedals, but that was 22 years ago, imagine the technology now for flich spin.

Would it be compatible with the standardized ECU?

With the new rule-changes coming in soon maybe we'll see the return of this exquisite technique.

I thought SeanValen was back. But it turns out the Flich Throttle Technique (FTE 3.0) is back. I watched telemetry from Peres in the Red Buell and Bothas and noticed them fliching away. Maybe the next JV.
