Here's what I found last weekend at the old FIAT's Lingotto premises in Turin for the 29th Automotoretro, an event that, despite having still to find its true position, somewhere
between an autojumble and a fully-fledged car show, somehow manages every year to offer something worthy of the admission price...This year, an impressive array of modern

Thank you, Arjan...but I wonder what's going on with the motor sports forums around the web: first I got kicked out of " the other forum" for " promoting my own website without offering any valuable contribution" because I had been so plucky to dare to link some pictures from my blog, then i've been getting a grand total of 1 (one) reply to my last post here. I understand that my efforts could be deemed as sub-par by many, but things around here used to be friendlier, not long ago. End of the rant.

Well I've been planning to go to Turin someday in the future and this 'little' show may be a beacon to plan on Alan.

Teapot, I believe at TNF we are all happy if one shares, even if there is some (small) commercial gain and no large breach of copyrights. At TNF it has been a little leass growded, but hey this can change anytime when the winter is over.

Maybe a small meeting, but I like the concept. And as you come closer to the source, the stuff shown is so genuine. The further away people buff up their cars and pump up the price tags. In Italy they somehow seem to be able to pull out some jewels from a garage or a shed: "And ah yes, this was what we had standing about for some time..."

I recall taking pictures of the Alfa Group C. It was standing in a basement of the Alfa Museum/Management building that officially was closed. Silence only disturbed by the dripping heating system.

Ironically, that's exactly what I find appealing in events held outside Italy: I don't know, but while I sense a real, passionate drive behind whatever takes place in the UK or USA, it always seems that here in Italy all things related to the classic motoring are just another mean for money to change hands, and, as such, far too much PR oriented. Or ,maybe, it's just a case of familiarity breeding contempt!
