Personally I dont think Vettel really cares what the haters say, if he did beat Alonso Lewis would be the next target, after Lewis it would be Di Resta etc... So either way Vettel wont win everybody over because there will always be another goal to aim at set by the haters that make this rubbish up.

Who did Alonso actually beat that was top tier to make him number one? he got 1 year with somebody close to his ability and he cracked under the pressure. Lewis was always being run close by Jenson even before the blip in 2011, yet everybody said Lewis was going to destroy him yet it didn't happen, so is Lewis overrated or is Jenson underrated? why is he in the top tier when Jenson beat him?

Vettel might not be in the same league as Alonso and Lewis........what league that is I'll never know since Vettel is the only world champion on the grid that hasn't been beaten by his teammate yet. Webber is hardly a pushover and could be regarded better than Massa and Jenson overall if given equal cars, yet that view could be seen as biased on my side.

I doubt he really cares for that stat unlike Lewis and Alonso did so they can keep it, Vettel wants to win plain and simple and has no intrest in these petty ego fights that Lewis and Alonso like to have. They can have the media glory, we'll have all the world titles thanks! Vettel would be better of it when he retires with 5+ world titles if he sticks to what he is doing now, Oh! but Alonso and Lewis was always a tier above, so was the proof of their lesser WDC's tally between them :rotfl:

*Sarcasm* I'm sure Vettel and his fans are having sleepless nights, wondering if Vettel could ever hit the heights of losing to his teammate to be in the same breath to the "top 2".

Some of us (original) Vettel's fans are used to stress and tension. After all I had to read all that nonsence about Kubica several years ago, thus I can survive Alonso or Hamilton as well without any problems.

Hamilton 2008. He basically won that season on wet races, in dry it was 3rd best car for most of the season (with BMW being 2nd car for first third of season, then McLaren 2nd best, then Renault 2nd best). Ferrari was by far most dominant car of that season.

Hamilton had a very nice car on 2008. On the wet the McLaren was the fastest, however this season Lewis didn´t win at Monza...;) Or Spa.

In the same way (and following your argument) he had the best car on 2007 and lost the WDC and a competitive car on 2011 (2nd best) where he has been beaten by teammate, and even a better car than Ferrari in 2010 and lost against Alonso...

Anyway my point is any WDC has been WDC without a competitive car. Any. And Lewis had a competitive car, as Alonso, Vettel, Senna, Prost... maybe Keke Rosberg is the exception (however he had a good car) ;)

If people sneer and criticise at Vettel's win at Monza we should start to sneer and criticise Senna's first win with Lotus at Portugal in the wet.

Both got pole, both had a huge gap to teammate that were both starting in 4th, both Vettel and Senna ran away with the win in the wet, major rivals were having problems with the wet and were more or less out of the way.

So what's so different between Vettel's win that people try to find every loophole to deminish it, yet nobody would dare say a bad word with Senna's first win when the situation was more or less identical...

Please go in more detail in why Senna should be worshiped for Portugal in a race winning Lotus yet Vettel's should be ignored with a points scoring Toro Rosso...

Please! Enlighten me!

Good lesson,mate!

The answer is easy: only the time will make justice.

Nobody will be forced to sign a contract saying they are no.2 at Ferrari.

Please stop saying this nonsense.

I think they already have...and, in any case, you can´t prove that they haven´t so my point is as valid as yours.

Webber was nowhere near being a top driver before having a dominant car in 2010, 2011, and he has been in F1 long enough.

If thats your answer, then I would like to remind you that a certain Jarno Trulli never looked like being anywhere close to being a top driver except when he was beating Fernando.;)

Yep. Isn't he wearing an FIA-shirt? Maybe he's the stewards consultant this weekend.

(Whatever came off the rumors of him testing for Ferrari on Suzuka??)

I would not at all be surprised if Vettel arrived at Ferrari together with Newey

No chance. Pretty sure Newey has said he has no interest in being based in Italy.

Yes, Mika Salo is the FIA steward in Valencia.

He is very keen to remind Seb in the picture above: Don't quit doing the finger in Ferrari ! ;))

There is an interesting note by James Allen on his blog concerning an understanding or pre-contract with Ferrari and Vettel:

Holding onto Sebastian Vettel in 2014 will be the next challenge for the team. He has a complex understanding with Ferrari which could see him join the team provided that a series of performance and other clauses are met in the 2013 season by the Maranello squad. This would see him partner Fernando Alonso from 2014 onwards.

This might be one of the reasons why Mark Webber decided not to sign with Ferrari and why we might see Massa in Ferrari next year. I feel Perez might be the back-up plan if this deal does not go through, assuming James Allen i right of course.

Seems like far too many "ifs" involved in that theory for it to be credible... I see no likelihood of Vettel partnering Alonso, I see no reason for Vettel and Ferrari to be signing such an elaborate pre-contract for 2014 in the middle of 2012.

Now if Ferrari KNEW that Alonso planned to retire at the end of 2013, or if Vettel KNEW that Red Bull were planning to pull out of F1 at the end of 2013 (or have a significant issue with engine supply under the new regulations), then it might make sense. But these are equally far fetched theories. And to suggest that a pre-contract for Vettel at Ferrari in 2014 would influence Webber's contract decision for 2013 is just as far fetched - you know that as soon as Red Bull offered him a contract, he would accept it, just as he has done for the past couple of years despite repeatedly complaining of team orders.

What Sosidge said. Vettel to Ferrari to PARTNER Alonso makes absolutely no sense for any of the parties involved.

Not to mention Vettel has no reason to leave RBR.

What is the status of Ferrari's funding? The last few years their money has come from Santander, who wanted a "Latin" team comprised of drivers from the two markets of greatest financial interest (Span and Brazil). However, as we all know, Spanish banks aren't doing so hot right now. If their funding changes, then the factors that determine who their drivers are change as well.

I think it might make some sense to Vettel and Ferrari even if Alonso is there, the guy who probably won't like it is Alonso. But Ferrari might want it since they want to win the WCC as well and they need 2 drivers regularly scoring points. Vettel seems to have a big desire to drive for Ferrari some time.

He didn't win all wet races, but he was the driver who scored by far most points in wet races, that is the point. I'm not saying McLaren wasn't competitive, I'm saying Ferrari was clearly better car, but Kimi and Massa did more mistakes that season and none of those drivers managed to fully use potential Ferrari had. You can see that by having Kimi being much slower than Massa in some races, and vice-versa in others. Plus, Kovalainen finishing only 7th in WDC proves the car was not at all easy to drive or to setup. Lewis is the only guy winning a WDC in a car that clearly wasn't best or equal best out there, that is in recent years ofc. This doesn't have to bother anyone (fans of other drivers) though, because while Lewis had it harder with the car, he had it easier (in relation to some other drivers championships) because Ferrari drivers screwed up the season badly.

Just think, if Ferrari would have a competitive driver in the other car, Alonso would need to raise his game.

One can probably say many things about Alonso, but that he doesn't try hard enough (as having headroom "to raise his game" implies) isn't on the list, I'd say.

Many of us on this BB can raise our game in the posts that we do....

 ;)

and

now I am being bitchy, why not put Nick Heidfeld into the second Ferrari cockpit, than Fernando for sure has to raise his game. :D

Was not a slight on Alonso.
He is a fierce competitor and would naturally raise his game if anyone got close. That would be at the human limit.
Unless you are saying there is no room for improvement, which of course is never the case.

:p Was it not Monaco (Williams vs Renault) and again Bahrain (BMW vs Ferrari) where Heidfeld did his famous passes on Alonso?
