Not really sure if this is the right thread for this, but at least it is currently active.
First time I have come across these, what look like bargain price, 1/43 models

Wow, that's amazing.

I had the Costin car. It was a Pinko model and quite expensive and I built a metal kit of the open car which weighed a ton and wasn't cheap either.

I fancy both of these.

Beautiful models and a fair price. Very tempting but with 1400 models I definitely have to be very selective as I run out of space. Now is one IN, one OUT.

You gets what you pays: not Spark or BBR quality, hence the price.

I have searched at Grand prix Models, and one or two other spots, with out success,  does any one know of a source for the 1/43 wheels that appear on this Elva FJ at Monaco, tires as well, shown in the link below, for another build ?

I'd rather not purchase a complete model or kit, but may have to in the end. I could only find the Axel/R model of the Elva-BMW that has these wheels.

I couldn't find a site for them does any have their  contact, perhaps I could just purchase wheels from them ?

Thank you, Michael in Canada

I think most here know how to enlarge the image at this site, to see the wheels more clearly

I would try not to say 'never', but I doubt that these wheels are available as aftermarket accessories: they were Elva-specific and so not so widespread as Cooper, Lotus etc wheels. I think your only option would be to find an Elva kit (or Spark model) and cast them from those. That way you won't end up with a model and no wheels.

Tyres will be easier to source, but since they don't need to be rubber, I'd be inclined to try casting the tyres too: rubber kit tyres often perish and are in any case a bit gimmicky.

Hi all, bit of a moon shot, but I'm trying to track down a HPI Collezione. They are hard to find so I appreciate I'm looking for something collectable. If someone has one in their collection that they'd be prepared to part with, please let me know.

Thanks. I am trying to unite a 1:1 scale version with the 1:43 version so it is an outrageously specific request.

Hi everyone. Quick question. To the specialists around here, in the grand scheme of things how valuable or desirable for a serious collector is a Onyx 1/43 model of Mansell's 89 Ferrari? I've the opportunity to get one in very good shape & at a low cost but not being a specialist myself in die-casts, I'm a bit undecided about whether making the plunge.

Thx in advance and a happy 2018 for everyone.

It's not a particularly special subject,  I'd say about the same as any model of that age - maybe £20-£30.

Judging from ebay listings that actually sold, £20-£30 is probably about right for the high end, with many examples selling for less.

The 1/43 model market has gotten rather saturated since Onyx produced those in the 1990's.

Cheers guys, thank you for your enlightening replies. I've been doing my bit of research and you're spot on. I know what I needed to know and I'm probably not buying it.

The Ixo/Altaya versions of the same model sell more or less for the same and look better: the model in itself is more accurate, particularly the nose & sidepods.

The Onyx comes in the original box but I'm not sure about the decals. They are not exactly in tip top shape, ok but not great.

Looking at similar models being sold in ebay it's evident that the glue they used back then had low quality as the decals are almost always peeling off.

P.S. Update: after much enthusiastic googling ended up getting a #27Alesi, Onyx Ferrari F92 from Ebay. £9 in very good shape. Certainly neither the rarest of the models or the most successful Ferrari, but it has long been one of my favourite F1's. As I'm not a serious collector, I reckon my crave for F1 models is satisfied for the time being :)

There are a number of sites that prey upon people,   this site which shows 1/43s at to good to be true prices, I believe to be one ?  someone I know recently got burned for the price of the Marsh 1/43 scale Masten Gregory McLaren M1B. It seems legit, but the payments go to some shell company in the east, you never see your product nor your money. I don't think that there is any virus in the links, but just google the sites to be certain.

This site also shows the 1/43, I think the whole thing is bogus ?

Hi, i am looking for a scale model of the 1954 or 1956 MG EX179 record car. I have heard of RAE making one, was there any others? Anyone know of any 2nd hand dealers who might have one?

This website suggests there is a version of the 1956 car made by Mach One Models :
