An unusual sponsor , "Everwarm homes".....but not inappropriate on that "Cold, damp and windy" circuit of Llandow in South Wales
The driver is Ken Bowen, local Saloon Car terror in his 850 Mini....
This is actually the only picture I ever sold in my totally amateur photographer career.....an "Everwarm Homes" corporate meeting happened to take place in a hall of my school, where a small students photo exhibition was being held, including this shot ....and an executive of the company insisted on buying me a few prints !!! 5 £ for three 8x10 prints, if I recall well ....a fortune in those days for a 16 years old.....

My Dad, Derek Chambers, used to race with Ken back in the day at Llandow, in a Ralph Ripley sponsored mini. I have searched high an low for any saloon racing photos of that time but to no avail. If there is any way you an upload or use an FTP I would love to see the film footage.

Sad to say that Ken passed away on June 7th 2015 in his home city of Swansea. Gone, but will never be forgotten by me.

Oh dear, wish I'd have found out where he was before this happened. Never mind good memories of Ken building me an engine, and gently reminding me to 'never build a motor' again!!
Happy days at Llandow 'Purple 13' lifting a rear wheel on the 90* bend every time!!

I used to help him out very often at Llandow, and further afield. He got me into racing, and built my first race engine. So many happy memories from late 60's on, and we kept in touch until about ten years ago. Unfortunately his funeral is strictly private.

Purple Minis at Llandow. Ken Bowen of course but there were the other purple Minis.
The "Baglan Minis". Entered by the Baglan Bay Service Station (twixt Port Talbot & Swansea). They fielded a squadron of up to 3 purple Minis in many Llandow clubbies. From memory they were only lightly modified and didn't worry the likes of Messrs. Bowen, McCloy, Gregory, Morgan etc to any extent.
I have some photos somewhere up in the attic...
