I know everyone probably has a favourite corner in real life, but what about on racing games? What's your favourite corner to drive?

The Esses at Suzuka. Really fast and you need to get the rythm just right.

Soon in iRacing!

the fastish left hander before the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca... hard to get right and you have to exit from it carrying a lot of speed to reach the top of the hill

Can't say which one is the absolute favorite but special mention to Mid-Ohio.

Underrated track IMHO!

The Southbound turn off of the M74 near Moffat.

What?

Oh, alright then, sim-wise GPL's Courbe De L'Etoile at Rouen and Ascari at Monza if you're in the midst of a slipstreaming pack are deeply fun.

No sim has ever got Noble into Goodwood right at Thurxton, but it's my favourite of all the racing sweeps I've driven in real life.

Not "a corner", but I love the last half of Oran Park, from the underpass through the final corner. If I had to narrow it down, it'd be the right-left esses before the final corner.

The entire series of curves from Copse to Stowe at Silverstone, the esses and 130R at Suzuka, the triple apex left at Turkey..

On real-life tracks put into sims: the 130 R and esses at Suzuka, Eau Rogue at Spa, Grand Hotel and the tunnel at Monaco, the gradual right-hander on the hill climb at Maple Valley, and the first corner of the full circuit at Sunset Peninsula.

On tracks from other racing games: the esses at Rainbow Road on Mario Kart Double Dash, the vertical hairpin at Aeropolis: Multiplex on F-Zero GX, and the spiral from Lightning: Loop Cross on F-Zero GX.

Degner 1. So many people fly off there trying to go too fast. They are flat out on dunlop, track to the right, and then the entry is all bad.

Lol, Maple Valley and Sunset are not real tracks.

That said, Final corner of Maple Valley is a very dangerous high speed corner onto the straight. Awesome.

Sunset Full Reverse has a very steep, left hand banked dive into the first corner with a wall on the outside. Easy to get wrong, thrilling.

It really depends what I'm driving. In an F1 car, I love almost all of Silverstone (pre-2010) but my favourite corner has to be Stowe and most-hated is Copse (I'm just not very consistent through it).

In a Touring car or GT, I love the Turn 8-9 section at Mid-Ohio.

Really? Thanks for the info--should've done my research first. :p I do very much enjoy those two tracks, though. Some of the more memorable corners on any racing sim, I'd say.

Non-F1:

- Rainey Curve, Laguna Seca (the left-hander after the Corkscrew).
- The initial series of corners at Sears Point/Infineon.
- Indianapolis and the Porsche curves, Circuit de la Sarthe (unfortunately Arnage, between the two, is my lest favourite corner on the circuit).
- Wipperman, Nurburgring Nordschleife.

F1:

- Senna S, Interlagos.
- Maggotts and Becketts, Silverstone.
- Pretty much all of Suzuka.

And a circuit on which I have actually driven:

- Jim Clark Esses, Croft.

Being in a bit of a nostalgic mood today, there are mostly gpl track corners that springs to mind :p

Casino@Monaco (GPL version, with the bump on the exit and interesting entry just exiting the last corner on the brakes)

Corner 4 @ mosport (GPL original track)

Combination of corners:

Monza, 2nd corner and the lesmos in GPL, where you have to go hard on the brakes and avoid understeer on entry, and oversteer just about everywhere else :p

S'es at suzuka (just about any rendition of the track)

Corner 2 and 3 at Kyalami (GPL original track version)

Last 3 corner of Snetterton'67 (GPL addon track) - hard to resist sliding too much :)

What a great topic!

So many to choose from, hard to pick just one.

In no order:

* Eau Rouge and Pouhon @ Spa.
* Parabolica @ Monza
* Esses @ Suzuka (great satisfaction when you sync them up)
* Porsche curves @ Circuit de la sarthe (Leman)
* Turn 8 @ Turkey
* Turn 12, exit onto Gardiner straight @ Phillip Island

Fantasy tracks:

* Tokyo 246, High speed chicane & the esses in sector 3 (GT5)
* Rome, turn 4 (i think) - sweeping left hander before the 90deg' right turn (GT5)

Usually negative camber and high speed esses/corners.

Estoril @ Magny-Cours

Partly because it's the only real corner in that sector, you always knew how you had done, but it's always the corner that I enjoyed most for the test.

I second that! Albert park is a wonderful circuit to drive.

My others include Canada, New Hockenheim, Barcelona and San Marino.

Too many corners to choose from just to pick one. Turn 8 at Istanbul is a favourite.

Also, Zandvoort on GPL (original track). Just a fast and flowing track, love it.

Getting Eau Rouge and Pouhon right, with the extra speed you can carry through the whole corner on each, is so rewarding. Getting each one spot on can make a difference of 20mph sometimes, especially on Pouhon!!

Nailing the first chicane at Abu Dhabi is tricky too, you need to get the car right on the edge of spinning off, then hold on to it into the second part of the corner. Getting that right is more of a relief than a rewarding experience!

Agreed, getting the apex right into that fast left-right is so crucial, you can do it pretty much full throttle on the left, but balancing when you lift (I assume everyone else has to lift!) and point the car into the right is pretty tough.

I spend the most time on Albert Park, Monaco (post 2002) and Spa 1988 on rfactor but my favourite corner... probably Stowe and Club on the Silverstone 87-90 track. Excitingly quick.

The fast, almost flat Left - Right at Albert Park, I have no idea what the turn number/name is.

Don't know the corner names, but the near flat out lefthander followed by a tight 2nd gear right early on in a lap of the Nordscheleife (after the straight that follows Flugplatz) is particularly satisfying. I like the feel of letting the car swing wide and touch the curbs on the exit, and the following series of downhill sweepers are also great to link together in a smooth line. Then again, almost every section of that track is a thrill to "drive" in a sim...
