He was great, maybe even MotR. BUt tactics really help him get past many cars, but i don't want to take anything away from him. He did great.

Yea, we didn't get to see enough of him, but I think I'm really impressed given his 1 stopper he was able to still go really fast, even at the end! Makes me wonder what all the whining was about from all the other drivers about the tires!! If this kid can make them work, so can the pros! They just need to get with the program, in that sense, I think he showed everyone up!!!

So far, so good for him, I think this is one to watch!!!

Frankly, i did not see him at all and was surprised to see him on P7 in the last few laps. No idea where he came from, but the fact that he finished ahead of Kobayashi is not without merit.

Great race, frankly I would have not thought it possible that somebody goes for one stop only and that Sergio Perez is going to take points from Oz. Very well done by the team, Pirelli and Perez.

Loved Kobayashi since he came in and Perez looks good too. Great to see exciting, talented young drivers getting a chance. Let's hope the big teams take note and some of the dead wood can be cleaned out.

I'm just saying don't extrapolate a career or even a season after one race. After the first race of 2010 people thought the season was going to be terrible.

A particularly measured and mature drive, especially given that he is only 21 and starting his first race against a relatively highly fancied team-mate. Add to that the fact that he missed the bulk practice 3, it was an oustanding performance. He had caught my eye yesterday when he matched Koba's times in the first period of qualifying and prior to that performing admirably during friday practice. Evidently had some problems with traffic in Q2. I think there will be more to come from this one!

I already made a bet with two friends about "Who`s going to be the best rookie in 2011". Both of them put their money on Di Resta, while my favourite was Perez.

Great drive by Perez. Kobayashi/Perez is a good (and very young) driver combo.

Looking at how bad Massa performed to day, one of them would be a nice option for 2012.

Did you know that both Sergio and Robert Kubica were disqualified after finishing 7th in their first race? They both drove Sauber and their number was #17.

I believe there is more to come from Sergio!

Sauber are good at rookies. However it is that their management deals with inexperienced drivers, some other teams could probably learn some lessons.

Aye, I want to cheer him on but this was a freak strategy wich paid off (before dq at least). So I'm not even sure how he drove. It was good but no clue really how good. So all I can say for now is he didnt't look bad at all

With a brutal drug war going on all over Mexico between rival drug cartels (check out blog del narco online for more info) I don't see a Mexican GP happening now, or even in the next 5-10 years time.

That was an incredibly disciplined race of conservation from a rookie - perhaps he should switch to endurance racing immediately to save time later in his career.

But seriously, that was one of the most impressive début race performances I've ever seen. In my opinion, he's the driver of the race for his perfect balance of speed and tyre sympathy.

Didn't he start on the hard tires? The softs should be prone to lasting longer after a little rubber goes down on the track.

Very impressive race by Perez. Regardless of being disqualified, which was the cars fault not his, he did an excellent race today.
