Does anyone know any good (great) F1 racing games. Has to be PC based - can't afford a Playstation, but I may be able to squeeze a MS steering wheel out of the budget??

Any thoughts ... most appreciated.

Have a look in "Racing Simulators"...

For PC, GP3 is hard to go past.

And then when you are confident enough, come and race us online in the atlasf1 GPL league.

If you want more of an arcadey F1 experience, try Warm Up! from Lankhor (the guys behind Vroom! and F1 World GP).

It hasn't got real drivers, but all the real tracks are there, and I'm sure someone will come up with a way of hacking it and changing the cars and drivers into real life ones!

Forget GP3.

After 10 laps at the wheel of EA's F1 Championship Season 2000, GP3 was given the boot from my hard drive.

OK, so the tracks need some imagination, but the 'feel' is sooooooooooo good! But if I need a real challenge it's back to Grand Prix Legends. Not much tops that. Thanks Sierra.

Grand Prix Legends is the best.

GP3 and F1 2000 Champ Edition are equal. Depends what you like. They both annoy the hell out of me. GP3 because it is not real enough in physics and F1 2000 because it looks like an arcade game with horrid graphics and its very eratic motion.

If you want to gain a feel for actual racing it has to be Grand Prix Legends.

This is slightly embarrassing but I`ll tell you anyway.

A few days after getting GPL I tried a Novice race at Spa.
The Novice races are only a few laps long but I found my butt ached after the race :drunk:

I had been clenching my butt going through Eau Rouge and Masta :D

GPL will get you (literally) on the edge of your seat !

Give it a try and tell us how you got on.

Too much information there. :)

Hmmm, that must be what DC said about not being able to pass wind going into corners...;)

Is GPL really that much better than GP3?

I thought GP3 was a vast improvement over GP2.

GP3 is hanging on by a thread on my hard drive. I've been playing F1CS2000 for a while and although it has a more arcady feel it's fun (as JV would say). GPL is damn hard work - I don't have a steering wheel which probably doesn't help - but the games remains on my pc after all this time and I'll crack it one day...maybe.

Oh yes. GPL is like going for a flight in an F16 fighter jet and GP3 is like a 747 passenger plane. Or, GP3 is like a box standard Ford Escort and GPL is like a Ferrari. Or, GP3 is like shagging the Queen and GPL is like shagging your favourite super model.
