Chris in the topic below raised a very interesting point as to who I.D.E.B. was who drove with Alessandro Gaboardi in the april 1950 Mille Miglia of far greater interest is which XK120 were they driving as in the well known published books by the like of Andrew Whyte etc only 4 XK120's have been listed and noted as works entries.
So the question remains which car were they driving another works car and there was at least one other car that was available or a privately owned car and there were not a lot about
Does the programme for the event list car colours? does anyone have pics of entrant number no 737

Identity of I.D.E.B.
http://forums.autosp...howtopic=143376
In the 1950 Mille Miglia Jaguar XK120 race #737 came in 16th overall. It was driven by "I.D.E.B.", with Alessandro Gaboardi co-driving.

Does anyone know the identity of I.D.E.B.?

Chris

I have checked with the "Jaguar Heritage trust" and they have no idea of the identity of the 5th unidentified XK120 driven by "I.D.E.B." and Alessandro Gaboardi

Right we are getting somewhere

from the Topic "Identity of I.D.E.B."

"The Mountaineer" noted:

"According to Swiss periodical "Automobil Revue" from April 26, 1950, I.D.E.B is an Italian-based Swiss called Wild (no first name given). Mostly living in Italy, he also had a Swiss domicile in Silvaplana, near St. Moritz. It seems that he was not known before in Swiss racing circles.
I want to point out that this Mr Wild is not identical with Cisitalia, Volpini and Ferrari driver Otto Wild from Muri (Aargau, Switzerland). "

so we are getting closer

Otto Wild raced a Ferrari 340 in the 1951 Mille Milgia

The WSRP site lists him as Odofranco Wild, but presumably he was known as Otto or Odofranco depending on the language involved:

Otto/Odofranco Wild also owned an XK120, but could not have taken delivery of it before August 1950, so could not have raced it in the 1950 MM.

Anyway, 'The Mountaineer' has indicated that Otto/Odofranco and I.D.E.B. are not the same person.
