There seems to be a certain lack of attention to detail in this shot... why would anyone leave four Dzus fastener keys in place like this? Olde Engineer/Photographer cannot help noticing mech details like this when all around him are avidly studying lap-top screens.
As Ted said, these are as used in period, two of the fasteners are actually original, two we had to remake (by silversoldering a "flag" into a Dzus fastener) and the items can be clearly seen in many period GT40 photographs.......so actually rather a lot of attention to detail! I would also point out that the fasteners, when tightened, all align correctly - even more attention to detail?
Ah; another illustration of the difference between the aero industry and the motor industry. I would have been for the high jump if I had left any Dzus keys in place but I suppose parasitic drag was not paramount on these sturdy cars back in the day and quick-release was more important. Having looked at "The Ford that beat Ferrari" I see that you are entirely correct. Costin would not have approved.

I can't wait to see the Knapfield Ferrari 512M! after seeing it at testing a few times last year. Lovely car!
This being one of the Herbie Muller "bitza" 512Ms, Richard Taylor whom I met up with at the recent Jaguar Enthusiasts Club International Day informed me that Jay Esterer has acquired a similar car which he intends to ship over to the UK to go racing with later this year.
