Hi, i am repainting a model at the moment of a Ferrari 250 GT SWB to make it look like the one Ken Miles raced. I am in need of four white roundel decals (12mm). Any ideas where i could get some or has anyone got any spare ones in their spare parts bin. The diecast model is i think 1/48? and is built by Idea3, are these common?

Hello Paul, you can try here - http://www.grandprixmodels.com/ look for decals under advanced search,or you could PM me for a few spare ones. The scale is 1/43. Good luck! Chris.

Another excellent source of decals is Adrian and Carol at the Modelworks. The address is www.modelworks.co.uk

Kitkent, i bought a sheet of Virage white roundels from Grand Prix Models. Lots of different sizes on the sheet so should keep me amused for a while.
Here is the diecast model.

Looking good! Idea 3 is quite an old model but I don't recall any other 250 SWB diecasts that I can think of. What's next?

Thanks, next project, well i have nearly finished my 1/32 model of the Triangle Special of which there is a thread about (real car) on the main Nostalgia Forum. Then i might start my AA Bodies Maserati T61 slot body. The paint job is putting me off at the moment. Ken Miles raced this car twice in 1962 and it had a white body with a blue curvey flowing line from front to back.
I have a pin striping brush which i might practice with ordinary enamel paint, see how far i can get the brush line to flow if you get my meaning.
I have used the pinstriping paint before and its strong stuff. Even using it outside it was making me heady. I should have put a mask on.

Took me a while to remember the Idea3 model, fairly nicely presented for its time but a little wide in relation to its length and maybe slightly oversized? Joueff did a lovely one with accurate looking opening doors etc., but expensive for a die cast.
