Which do you thinks best?

Personally I still think the original 'Formula One' is the best by Bizarre, although Ive recently bought 'F1 Championship Season 2000' by EA, and the scenario mode is a lot of fun..........

Greatest ever F1 game was F1 97. it was an upgrade of the original and was a good one.

I agree with Bell, the original was the best.
The handling was better than 97, you could link up 2 stations, change the setup at pitstops and there was a full replay mode :)

F1 97 was good but the lap times were ridiculous! and I was frustrated by the lack of replays, good weather effects though. There were some problems with theorigianl however especially in the 'dual' mode. after a while you opponent went into the pits on every lap. Hungary was my favourite track on 'formula one' My best time was 1;15.9 anyone bettered that?

By the way F1 98 was an F310 of a game!!

I too loved Hungary but on F1 97. I remember on F1 97 I got 1m 4sec on Hungary. Anyone else remember the times on F1 97.

As I remember the cars were a lot better looking, cars easier to handle etc etc.

I think I got something in the vicinity of a 1.05 a while ago. I agree that F197 is still by far and away the best, but I'd prefer them to continue the format of F1 97 in future games. I'd actually like to see a CART version.

the same folks who made f'97 did make a cart version, mike andretti on cover.

the good thing about the original version was the realistic spinning.

and both were great when in wet, recent games suck in that respect.

all time fave? sega 16bit monaco 2.

magic! Oh the memories! That game on the Megadrive (US Genesis) was one of the best ever. I hardly remember how it was like anymore, but I remember how gret I felt playing it.

As far as PlayStation goes, I only have Formula 1 99 and I can get pole with an Arrows. The lap times are indeed a joke...

I really liked F1-99 until I played Spa (my favourite/best circuit). The AI cars go round La Source like its Blachimont, its almost impossible to beat them out of there as they are unrealistically fast. Suzuka though is unbelievable, its the best version in any game.

Heh yeah I had Monaco 2 on the Megadrive, it was great :)

Oh yeah, F1 totally revolutionised console racers.
But F197 is a better game than it, and so far has been the best F1 racer on the PSX, although a bit out of date.

Laps time are indeed a joke, 1:03's around hungary is a bit far huh?

F1 2000 by EA still on my favorites. I only played few of F1 games so far on the PSX: Psynosis F198 (what a piece of ****), F1 World GP (makers of Tomb Raider goes into F1, turns it too arcade).

My personal favorite is F1 Roc 2 fror the SNES. You go up from the F3000 to F3 to F1. It's the most hardest game I ever played. Trust me getting to F1 level isn't no fun and the best AI of any racing game. Paying money to build parts for a car is a bitch. Only the F1 level the tracks are realistic but the entire game is an challenge. This game is possibly rare in the US while I don't know about in Europe. I bought the game at a Game Fellas in Austin.

Another favorites: Ayrton Senna Super Monaco GP2 (Genesis); F1 Pole Position (SNES); Nigel Mansell World Championship (SNES).

N64 may not be the best system but I picked it up for racing simulations from F-Zero; Indy Racing 2000; Top Gear series, and F1 World GP.

F197-Chamionship Edition is still the best PSX1 F1 racing selection in my opinion.

While I concede it's shortcomings (unreal lap-times, no replay, no link-up), they are a small weight to bare in comparison to the misgivings inherent in virtually all other PSX-F1 racing games.

BTW, The CART-Psygnosis title mentioned above was titled, "Newman / Haas Racing". This game however, WAS NOT developed by Bizzare Creations. It was developed by the same group that developed F1-98 for Psygnosis, Studio 33 or smoething like that.

F1 2000 (EA) is a good game, great graphics - pity is so damn easy, and only one weather effect (either it's raining or its not).
F1 99 is good, little bit harder and changable weather.
F1 98 is a crap game, the only thing I like about it, is you really have to have the car setup correctly in order to take Eau Rouge flat!

I have every F1 game for the PSX, and the majority are simply terrible. F1 97 is without doubt the best all round game available. The EA sports games are the next best but only using the nose camera view. F1 98 made by Visual Arts is simply a worthless game in all respects. I've had F1 97 for three years and I still play it now. I agree there are some bugs and glitches but they are nothing compared to the pityful second class versions of all other F1 games. I agree with a previous posting that Official F1 games should try and adapt the F1 97 engine and update it, but as for F1 99, the graphics are superb but again the handling just lets it down.

F1 97, I think is the best but it is boring you can not set up the car from the garage.

The original was good too but I missed the cock-pit view there (sitting in the car view)

On Sega megadrive, yes Monaco 2 , the absolute best. When you won the championship Ayrton Senna lifted your arm up. The first time I was really touched by it.

even in sega's monaco grand prix 2 the guy in the green/yellow car was a pain.

but as soon you swapped your crappy car with his, after beating him, he didn't play a part thereafter.

No, The CART game was indeeed developed by Studio 33, but F1-98 was made by Visual Sciences who went on to make the later EA Sports F1 games.

Studio 33 only got the Psygnosis F1 series as of 99.
